Ben Shelton FRANKLINTON, La. (July 15) - Last weekend, Voodoo Motorsports and driver, David Breazeale, entered a pair of Lucas Oil Late Model Series events and came away with a tenth place effort to show for their efforts.
Action got underway on Friday night at North Alabama Speedway in Tuscumbia, Alabama as the team debuted a brand new #54 Mastersbilt By Stuckey/Jay Dickens Racing Engine Super Late Model. Luck would be far from being on the team's side though as David would lose a drive shaft less than two laps into his heat race. As his car came to a halt, another competitor slammed into him, resulting in heavy left rear damage on the new car. As a result, the team's night came to an end, and they spent much of the daytime hours on Saturday at Jay Dickens Racing Engines shop in Aberdeen, Mississippi rebuilding the car.
On Saturday night, the team made the trek to Columbus Speedway in Columbus, Mississippi for a $10,000 to win event with the SPEED Channel cameras on hand to record the race. Breazeale would finish 3rd in his heat, which earned him a 9th starting spot for the feature event. Throughout the course of the event, David would battle in the top 10, with many of the nation's top drivers, getting as high as the 5th position before settling for a 10th place finish at the end of the 50 lapper.
Team owner, Jason Creel, commented on the weekend, "We were just glad to complete more than two laps on Saturday night. The past couple of weeks, we have been sidelined less than two laps into the races, by some crazy problems. Hopefully we have all of the bugs worked out now."
This weekend Voodoo Motorsports will return to action with the Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) at Central Mississippi Speedway in Winona, Mississippi in a $2,500 to win/$300 to start, 50 lap event, and they will do so with both guns blazing with both Breazeale and Scott Creel slated for action. Scott didn't race last weekend as he spent most of the time turning wrenches on David's car, but this weekend Creel will once again pilot his #31 GRT/Wall-2-Wall Racing Engine Super Late Model.
