LEBANON, Mo. (July 11) - The Action track of the Ozarks provided plenty of excitement and action as the Lebanon Midway Speedway hosted the 2nd annual Larry Phillips Birthday Bash and a member of team Phillips Jeremy Payne came out the big winner in the DLRA/MARS Late Model challenge with over 135 race teams in the pits.

The star-studded field of a scheduled 24 came down to the start of the feature with Jeremy Kelley and Brandon McCormick setting the pace for the race as only Jesse Stovall didn't make the call with motor problems.
McCormick and Kelley went side by side into turn 1 as Former Midway Modified Tony Jackson Jr wasted no time in making it a 3 wide pass as he took control. Jackson was using the bottom groove while Leslie Essary had moved into second place.. With several battles throughout the pack of 2 wide racing, Jeremy Payne who started 8th was picking his way to the front along with Will Vaught. Out in front Jackson was setting a quick pace as Payne and Vaught wagged a tight battle for second place. The 1st of 3 yellows waved on lap 16 as Top runner Wendell Wallace pulled high in turn 3. On the restart, Jackson lead the field back to action as Payne was moving to the middle groove to challenge for the lead. The yellow waved as Terry Phillips pulled high in turn 2 with rearend problems ending his night. On the restart, Payne pulled along side of Jackson as the duo ran side by side while Leslie Essary was close behind. On lap 18, Payne made the pass on leader Jackson while Steve Rushin was coming through the field. Top runner Leslie Essary pulled in around lap 20 ending his strong run. Out in front Payne had pulled away from the field and was starting to catch lapped traffic as the final yellow waved for debris. On the restart, Rushin challenged Jackson for third place as Payne checked out from the field. When the checkered waved it was Payne taking the honors with Vaught, Rushin, Jackson and early contender McCormick following as 19 of the 23 starters finished on the lead lap.
