Ben Shelton TRUMANN, Ark. (July 15) - Despite having a slow start to the season, Kyle Beard and Beard Motorsports knew that sooner or later things would start to click and the wins would start to come. Last weekend proved that they knew exactly what they were talking about as the team picked up back-to-back wins.
Not only is Poinsett County Raceway in Harrisburg, Arkansas, Kyle's home track, but it is also one of his favorites. On Friday night, Kyle enjoyed the high-banks of PCR to the tune of a $2,000 feature win with the O'Reilly MSRA. Beard started last in his heat race and charged his way to the win. Via passing points, he earned the pole position for the feature event. He grabbed the lead at the drop of the green flag and never looked back en route to the $2,000 payday, which marked his second win of 2008 behind the wheel of his #86 GRT By Frye/Samuels Performance Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Kyle continued his hot streak on Saturday night at Arkansas Motor Speedway in Nashville, Arkansas as he picked up the win and the $2,000 payday once again in O'Reilly MSRA action. Kyle started the night by winning his heat race from outside the front row. His heat race finish earned him a 3rd place starting position in the feature event. At the drop of the green flag, Beard would bolt to second and begin his pursuit of the leader. He would work his way past the leader early in the race before a caution negated the pass. On the ensuing double file restart, Kyle would fall back to third. Beard would maintain the third position until a caution shortly after the race's midway point set up another double file restart, where Kyle would race past Jeff Floyd and Joey Mack to take the lead and never look back en route to the win.
This weekend, Kyle will look to carry last week's momentum into a pair of events. The weekend will get underway on Friday night at Batesville Motor Speedway in Locust Grove, Arkansas with a $2,000 to win/$350 to start MSRA/DLRA Super Late Model Challenge event around the 3/8 mile, red clay oval. At this time, Saturday night's plans for Beard Motorsports are still up in the air. The team will either compete in night #2 of the MSRA/DLRA Challenge at Batesville Motor Speedway or head to Greenville Speedway in Greenville, Mississippi for a $2,500 to win SUPR/AMP Super Late Model Challenge event.
