Shawn T. Wood SELINSGROVE, Penn. (February 20) - Hagerstown Speedway promoter Frank Plessinger has cancelled the scheduled season opener for the late models and big block modifieds according to a press release on the speedway website this evening.
"Temperatures were cold this week, and the snow that we received Wednesday and the forecast for more on Friday into Saturday, along with the freezing temperatures have just made conditions unfavorable to try and open this weekend," Promoter Frank Plessinger said. "The weather is everything, we'll step back and try again next weekend."
The Dirt Track Channel will be at Hagerstown next weekend, March 1, for the live audio webcast of the Octoberfest 350 qualifier starting with the pre-race show at 1:20 p.m. Eastern.
The late models and modifieds will compete in 30-lap features for the Octoberfest Qualifier and the winner of the modified race will also receive a guaranteed spot for Syracuse. The 21st running of the Octoberfest 350 is scheduled for October 25-26.
All modified/late model doubleheader races are scheduled on Saturday, with Sunday being used as a possible back up date for any weather related issues. This will be in effect for the next three programs.
Warm-ups begin at 1 p.m. next Saturday with race time approximately 1:30 p.m. Gates open at 11 a.m. and the pit gates at 10 a.m.
