SWDRA PR TUCSON, Ariz. (February 19) - The SWDRA (Southwest Dirt Racing Association) is set to begin another exciting season of super late model racing touring throughout Arizona. Coming off a season that saw 5 different drivers enter victory lane and a record fifth series championship for Lonnie Parker Jr., this season promises the same exciting and competitive action that has lead to the tremendous growth of Dirt Late Model Racing nationwide.
The opening event, of the 16 race point's series, is set for March 8th at the fast 1/3 mile bullring of Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona. The point season is set to run through mid-October with the season finale taking place October 11th at the Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, Arizona. This years schedule features the return of the historic Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Arizona to the list of host tracks. The action at Manzanita will feature heart-stopping excitement on both the 1/2 mile and 1/3 mile tracks dependant upon the date of racing.
The 2008 SWDRA Super Late Model Series schedule includes 5 different host tracks this year including 4 races at the revitalized Canyon Speedway Park in Peoria, Arizona, 4 races at the first class facilities of the United Sports Arizona Race Park in Tucson, Arizona, 3 races at the historic Manzanita Speedway in Phoenix, Arizona, 2 summer races at the refreshing Prescott Valley Raceway in Prescott Valley, Arizona, and 3 races at the action packed Central Arizona Raceway in Casa Grande, Arizona. All 16 points paying races will range from $1,000 to $2,000 to win dependant venue and race date.
In addition to the 16 race SWDRA point's championship schedule, most drivers will be participating in 6 nights of non-points unsanctioned special events set to take place upon the completion of the SWDRA season. The special events include October 31 & November 1 at USA Race Park, November 14 & 15 at Manzanita as part of the Western World Championships, and November 21 & 22 at Canyon Speedway Park as part of the Desert Classic.
