DOTHAN, Ala. (February 17) - Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway in Dothan, AL has joined the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series for the 2008 season, and gives the series it's first track in Southeast Alabama. The Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway name will move to the former Dothan Raceland for the 2008 season.

"The Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway name will be moved from the track we promoted last season to the Dothan Raceland track for 2008," Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway Promoter Joe Alderman said. "We have had a lot of interest from the competitors in both the new track and the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series."

Alderman said there are a lot new teams that will be coming out in 2008 for the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series which competes with dirt late model chassis powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engines.

"There are a lot of new teams moving up from the lower divisions and a lot of teams that have parked their super late models due to economics that will be coming back and competing in the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series in 2008 at Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway," Alderman said. "This new interest should make for an exciting season with some great racing for the fans."

The addition of Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway to the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series continues the growth of Crate Late Model racing in the state of Alabama that is taking place in 2008.

"The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series is showing its biggest advances this season in Alabama," NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Director Roby Helm said. "Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, AL will begin its third straight season in 2008, while Penton Raceway is ready for its second season. We're hopeful Butler County Motorsports Park in Greenville, AL will resign in the coming days, and we've added Green Valley Speedway in Glencoe, AL and Flomaton Speedway in Flomaton, AL along with Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway for 2008. By the end of the week, we're hoping to sign two more Alabama tracks to bring the total to eight."

Drivers in the Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway Crate Late Model Division will compete for both Track and Regional point funds, as well as special NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series contingency awards and post-season special events.

Under the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series sanction, drivers at Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway will be eligible not only to compete for a Track point fund, but also a Regional point fund using their 16 best finishes during the NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series season from March 28, 2008 through September 28, 2008.

In addition, the top six drivers in the Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway Crate Late Model Division point standings, excluding any top six Regional point drivers, will be invited to the 3rd Annual Crate Racin' USA Fall Nationals Invitational Race at Columbus Speedway in Columbus, MS on November 28, 2008.

The Chattahoochee Valley Motor Speedway Track Champion will also be eligible to compete in the Race of Champions, and top six Regional point drivers will compete in the Race of Regions during the Fall Nationals in Columbus, MS. The NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Regional Champions will receive a new GM Performance 604 Crate Engine, and a new dirt late model chassis.

The NeSmith Chevrolet Dirt Late Model Series and the Weekly Racing Series feature dirt late models powered by the economical GM Performance Crate Engine that are built and sealed at the GM factory to prevent any expensive modifications.

The 400 horsepower aluminum-head 604 engine can be purchased for right at $5,000, and the 350 horsepower steel-head 602 engine can be purchased for right at $3,000. The GM Performance Crate Engines are available at NeSmith Chevrolet in Claxton, GA with free delivery in the Southeast. For more information call Tim Bland at NeSmith Chevrolet at 1-877-497-3624.

The GM Performance 602 Crate Engine also receives a 150-pound weight break and a one inch larger carburetor spacer over the 604 engine.
