UMP/Kevin Kovac CONCORD, N.C. (January 30) - UMP DIRTcar Racing will focus on the Pro Late Model and Open-wheel Modified divisions for the remaining "Super Bowl of Racing" events at Golden Isles Speedway in Brunswick, Ga., removing its sanctioning of the Super Late Model class.
UMP DIRTcar Racing is committed to keeping competition fair and cost-effective, and that balance was no longer possible during the Super Late Model events at Golden Isles once the track decided to forgo the UMP DIRTcar tire rule.
In addition, UMP DIRTcar member and late model competitor Scott Bloomquist, who was disqualified for using a tire that failed to meet UMP DIRTcar rules during competition at Golden Isles on Monday night, shall be suspended from UMP DIRTcar Racing competition for one month, effective immediately.
UMP DIRTcar Super Late Models return to action Monday, Feb. 11, in the 37th Annual Alltel DIRTcar Nationals at Volusia Speedway Park near Daytona Beach, Fla. The Alltel DIRTcar Nationals begins Feb. 5 and features 12 consecutive nights of racing, showcasing 410 Sprint Cars, Big Block Modifieds, Super Late Models and UMP DIRTcar Open-wheel Modifieds.
