Golden Isles Speedway
BRUNSWICK, Ga. (January 25) - Jimmy Owens of Newport, Tenn., is looking super at Golden Isles Speedway's Super Bowl of Racing IV.

Fresh off Wednesday's $10,000 victory in the opener, Owens blew away the field on Friday for another $10,000 payday. He had a straightaway lead on fellow front-row starter Donnie Moran after just five laps laps and, except for restarts after a lap-30 and lap-44 cautions, never let anyone get any closer in the 50-lap main event.

The UMP-sanctioned victory for Super Late Models gives Owens four straight victories going back to two wins that he wrapped up 2007 with at Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, S.C., and East Bay Raceway Park near Tampa, Fla., a crate engine race. He's piloting the same Bloomquist Race Car that carried him to most of his victories during a stellar 2007 season, including the 37th annual World 100 at Eldora Speedway.

At Golden Isles, Steve Francis of Ashland, Ky., took second from Moran on the lap-44 restart, but he was no match for Owens, who again built a full straightaway lead in cruising the final laps. Moran, of Dresden, Ohio, ended up third with Tim Fuller of Watertown, N.Y., and Hall of Famer Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, Tenn., rounding out the top five. Tim McCreadie of Watertown, N.Y., who got sent into the infield mud on an aborted lap-one start, rallied from his 15th starting spot to finish sixth. Owens wasn't the only repeat winner at Golden Isles. Shane Williams of DeLeon Springs, Fla., captured his second National Late Model Series feature during the Super Bowl of Racing IV.

The 10-night event, rained out on Thursday, continues with another $10,000-to-win event for Super Late Models on Saturday, Jan. 26.
