NEW SMRYNA BEACH, Fla. (January 26) - 16 year old dirt late model pilot Dillon Wood of New Smyrna Beach, Florida will begin his quest for the 2008 O'Reilly Southern All Stars Championship and the Cleveland Speedway Driving School Rookie of the Year on Wednesday. Wood will travel north to Golden Isles Speedway in Waynesville, Georgia for the OSAS portion of the Super Bowl of Racing IV. The coastal Georgia speedplant will host the O'Reilly Auto Parts sponsored series for three events paying $10,000 to win each.
Wood is excited about his chances. "We have a brand new Rocket race car and a brand new Clements Race Engine ready to go. So we are in really good shape. We ran pretty well there last October so I am excited about getting back to the track. I know the Lloyds have worked really hard on the track and they have really stuck their neck out to put on this event. I wish we could have run a few more of the ten (races) but we just finished the new car this weekend. We are going up Tuesday night and shake it down." said Wood.
In addition to breaking out a new Rocket, Wood will also be debuting his new t-shirts. The 2008 design by Arizona Sport Shirts will be available for sale at the speedway beginning on Tuesday night. They will be available at the Arizona Sport Shirts / Gotta Race Souvenir Trailer in the grand stands and from the DWR hauler in the pit area.
