CLEARFIELD, Penn. (October 3) - The 10th anniversary season for the Northern Tier Inc ULMS Late Models finally came to a close last night at Central PA Speedway in Clearfield PA. Boom Briggs of Bear Lake, Pennsylvania came into the night as the series point leader and looking for his first ever series title and was looking for his first win of the 2010 season within the series. The Bear Lake Banzai left Tim Bainey's speed palace with a cool $2500 in his pocket for winning the Topless 30 and the Northern Tier Inc. ULMS championship title that was worth another $2000!

With threatening weather all day long in western Pennsylvania and cool temperatures a smaller than usual car count was on hand for the ULMS finale, but the fans were treated with some great on track action. The 30 lap ULMS main event featured the super late models going topless as ULMS regular, Bump Hedman and Port Erie, Ontario, Canada driver, Darrin Peters sat on the front row for the 30 lap event. Hedman charged into the lead at the start with Boom right behind as Peters slid back to fourth allowing John Garvin to grab third and Chris Clark was in fifth as lap one was completed. The top two ULMS stars of Hedman and Briggs would set sail in front of the field with Garvin in tow as Jared Miley quickly moved into the fifth spot behind Peters. Lap four would see Garvin get by Briggs for second as he was nipping on the back bumper of Hedman. Gregg Satterlee would take fifth from Miley on lap five. Briggs would get back by Garvin and on lap eight, the #99B Rocket Chassis of Boom Briggs would sweep pass Hedman coming out of turn two take over the lead. Meanwhile, Satterlee was applying pressure on Peters for fourth. Satterlee would finally take fourth over from Peters on lap eleven as Miley was right there looking to steal fifth.

At the halfway point it was Briggs still in command over Bump Hedamn, Garvin ,Satterlee and Petes. The next five was Miley, Greg Oakes, Billy Dickson, Bernie Whiterford and Ryan Christoff. The field would get tighten up with a lap 19 yellow for Christoff and this put Hedman, Garvin and appearing to be a very fast Satterlee on the rear bumper of Briggs. Briggs shot out of turn four and it was evident there was no stopping the "Boom Express". Lap twenty one would see Hedman Garvin and Satterlee within a carlength and half of each other battling for second. At the same time Miley and Peters were trading paint for fifth as lap twenty two clicked off the board, Satterlee went to the low side and swept under both cars of Hedman and Garvin for second and set sail for Briggs. With three to go, Bump would lose third to Garvin as the white and blue #22H of Hedman's tires seemed to start falling off. As the checkers fell for the Boom, signifying his exclamation point to the 2010 ULMS season winning the season finale and the 2010 title. Satterlee was second with Garvin, Hedman and Peters rounding out the top five. Capturing the two heats were Briggs and Oakes.
