CLEVELAND, Tenn. (October 16) - In a most stunning upset, local racer Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, TN laid claim to his career largest Super Late Model race, winning the Southern Regional Racing series; GRANT ADCOX MEMORIAL Saturday night at Cleveland Speedway. Third starting Hickman in his # R1 "Hickman Manufacturing, American Billett, Austin Trucking, Mayo Racing Components, Bodies by Rick Hixson" sponsored MasterSbilt / Racetek powered racecar overpowered early race leader (and defending champion) Ray Cook (# 53) for the $4,000 payday. At his hometrack and infront of family and friends, Hickman methodically thanked everyone who'd help him get to "this point" before posing with Mr. Herb Adcox, father of the late Grant Adcox on the front straight-away. "I'm just a local racer that is lucky enough to have the support of a wonderful family and great friends..." stated an almost in shock and weary Hickman, to the crowd.

Thirty (30) SLM's signed in at race time as Anthony Burroughs (# 121) would set fast-time in group qualifying. Cook and Hickman would both set fast-time in their respective groups leaving a strong field of contingents to race the three (3) B-Mains. Eric Wells, Steve Smith and David Payne would take the 10 lap victories to earn starting spots for the 40-lap feature. Burroughs and Cook would bring the 20th event to the green, with the TARHEEL TIGER showing the way. Dan Schleiper (# S9) followed Cook with Burroughs and Hickman solidly within the Top-5 for lap 1. Caution appeared on lap 2 as Brad Coffey (# 88), Jacob Grizzle (# 99G), Curtis Cline (# 23) and Mike Hill (# 11) all tangled on the back stretch. The restart would see green and Hickman would make quick work of Burroughs as Mark Douglas (# 52D) and Chris Wall (# 71) would battle.

A few laps later THE INTIMAGATOR Wall (wouldn't be so...) and would see misfortune, with a solo spin in turn four. Again on the restart Hickman got the drop on his competitor, this time passing Schleiper for second. The nights longest greenflag stand would see Hickman eventually pass and pull away from Cook. It would also see the surgance of THE SKIPPER Skip Arp (# 97) work past Wells and THE WISCONSIN WILDMAN Schleiper. Chad Ogle (#10) and Grizzle would tangle on the front stretch to rear caution on lap 32. Douglas' good Top-5 run would end a few laps later, as the Knoxville, TN, native would spin on lap 36. Hickman didn't miss a beat on the restarts, even with THE DARK ARP on his spoiler and would take it to victory. Arp and Cook would round out the Top-3. Schleiper would hold off COACH David Payne (# 8) to round out the Top-5 finishers. Burroughs' seventh place finish, just behind Eric Wells (# 18) would be good enough to clinch the 2010 S.R.R.S championship title. Grizzle was also acknoledged as 2010 Rookie of the Year at the races conclusion.

In other racing action: THE LITCHMOB took the LLM/Crate by storm... Justin Litchford won over Lamar Scoggins, Brandon Williams, Patrick Duggan and Tanner Works. Booger Brooks laid claim to the B-Hobby 20 lap feature. Lee Harbin, Adam Earwood, Jason Brown and Chris Wilson followed. Richard Dixon won the A-Hobby 20 lap feature, while DOWNTOWN Jimmy Brown won the Pony race and Scott Hughes won the 12-lap FWD finale feature race. No racing at Cleveland until Saturday night November 6th when Ray Cook's series comes for the TARHEEL CLASSIC, which is a $5,000 to-WIN SLM race. Visit www.clevelandspeedway.com for more details.
