SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. (September 17) - 22 Super Late Models registered in for the first night of the SRRS Danny Sandrell Memorial weekend at Thunderhill Raceway, Summertown, TN. Danny, a long time driver at Thunderhill and brother of Jan Sandrell (Marketing & Event Administrator of the SRRS) passed away in February, 2010 and this weekend of racing has been dedicated to his memory. Tony Morris' (SRRS Chairman) M31 race car would sport a new wrap and run Sandrell's number 17 on it for this weekend's events.

With 22 race cars, there would be no heat races and the 30 lap, $2,000 to win feature's starting order would be determined by qualifying times. The Jason M. Neely "Race For A Cure of Parkinson's Disease Foundation" would give a $200 Fast Qualifier award. Ben Kittrell (Mount Pleasant, TN) would earn that award with the fastest time of 11.718. At the Driver's Autograph session during intermission, Jason Neely would be on hand to award the $200 to Kittrell.

At feature time, Morris would lead the 4 Wide salute in the #17 race car in tribute to Sandrell. Dane Dacus, starting on the outside pole, would take the lead at the drop of the green and hold on to it to take the checkered. Kittrell would chase Dacus for 30 laps but would have to settle for second place. The middle of the field behind the top two cars would be where the action was with 2 and 3 wide racing. Chuck Proctor, Anthony Burroughs, David Earl Gentry, Jay Brinkley, Ray McElhiney and Josh Putnam would all do battle for positions. Putnam, who started in tenth, would start picking the others off and by lap 25 would take Chuck Proctor's third place position only to have a lapped car cause him to drop back to fifth.
