RINGGOLD, Ga. (August 20) - Skip Arp and Ronnie Johnson put on a 'BattleBrawl' for the ages Friday night at Boyd's Speedway for the $3,000 to win Hot August Nights Southern Regional Racing Series event. Leading the first 10 laps from the outside pole position, Arp from Georgetown, TN, was surpassed by the 5th starting RJ, from Chattanooga, TN, whom seemed well en route to his 9th win of 2010. Arp flanked by S.R.R.S regular Josh Putnam came roaring back to life with clear track ahead, just prior to halfway in the 40 lapper and regained the top spot. Johnson wasn't thru and just like a heavyweight prize fighter, got back into the lead passing Arp with a little over a dozen laps left. Johnson seemed to (once again) be the man to beat, but with 5 laps to go, the driveshaft would jump ship, thus handing the victory to Arp. "We were lucky tonight... stated Arp in Jody Millard Pest Control Victory Lane, standing next to the Bobby Giffin owned # 97 "Stanley Best Heating & Cooling, Curtis Equipment Sales" sponsored GRT racecar. "I dunno what happened to him (RJ) but we'll take it. When he passed me, I thought we'll we ain't the best tonight, then all the sudden the car got better. Arp's 3rd win of 2010 comes once again with the S.R.R.S after taking a May Boyd's event and splitting a double header in nearby Cleveland, TN. A close call came for the leaders during the race when John Owenby lost power on the frontstretch making the leaders take evasive action. With Johnson out, Brandon Kinzer hed back a hard chargin William Thomas for the runner-up finish. Rounding out the Top-5 were; David Payne and Randy Weaver.
