SRRS Media SUMMERTOWN, Tenn. (April 10) - The Birmingham Bullet, Anthony Burroughs (Birmingham, AL), took the PPM Race Products Southern Regional Racing Series checkered flag at Thunderhill Raceway Summertown, TN. Starting the 40-lap, $3,000 to win feature on the outside pole, Burroughs would inherit the lead after front runner Daniel Miller's engine overheated. Burroughs also earned Shy Suspension and Base Racing Fuels Feature Winner Awards.
Out of 30 entries from five states, Daniel Miller would set fastest time in qualifying overall securing the pole starting position for the feature and earning the Star Grafix Fast Time Award of a $100 Certificate toward a wrap. Miller took the lead on the start of the race and was in another time zone until his engine overheated putting him out for the night. On the restart of the race, Burroughs checked out and held on to take the checkered flag for the win.
Mark Fields took a wild ride on lap twenty when he went off the top of the track on the front straight away just before turn one earning him the Deluxe Performance Racing Products Hard Luck Award. Fields wasn't injured but that put an end to the night for him. Ray Cook made a late race charge to finish the feature in second place followed by Jacob Grizzle, Tony Morris and David Gentry. Series rookie Jacob Grizzle's third place finish would move him to the number one spot in the point's standings.
The top nine drivers that locked into the feature through qualifying were Daniel Miller, Tony Morris, Ray Cook, Anthony Burroughs, Jerry Owens, Jacob Grizzle, Seth Daniel, Brandon King, and David Gentry.
The winner of B-Main number one and drivers transferring to the main event was Mark Fields (Lawrenceburg, TN), Kelly Hanvey (Cullman, Al), Jackson (Tuscumbia, AL), Chuck Proctor (Charlotte, TN), and Jimmy Tucker (Flintville, TN). The winner of B-Main number two was McElhiney (Pulaski, TN) followed by Bo Shirley (Gadsden, AL), Ben Kittrell (Mt. Pleasant, TN), and Ben Davis (Columbia, TN). The winner of B-Main number three was Jay Brinkley (Raus, TN), followed by Eric Hickerson (Linden, TN), Brett Wyatt (Crossville, TN), and Jeremy Glasgow (Cowan, MS). Rounding out the 24 car starting line up were series' provisional's Caleb Ashby and Joe Denby.
Brinkley Farm's 10th place award winner, Ray McElhiney, will receive $50. DBR Performance Starters' 12th place award winner, Brett Wyatt, receives a $75 gift certificate. Double H Race Fabrication's 15th place award winner, Ben Kittrell, will receive a $50 off certificate. Hard Charger of the night recognition goes to Joe Denby for moving up from 23rd to 14th.
