NEVADA, Mo. (August 8) - The Race Brothers Show-Me Racin' Series was back in racing action at Nevada Raceway after a weekend off. Twenty-seven late models signed in for their chance to come home with the thousand dollar grand prize. Some exciting racing action was sure to happen on the short ¼ mile track. Fans filled the grandstands to watch the Show-Me boys at their one and only stop at the Nevada Raceway. The pole sitter, Justin Asplin in the 77a, would take his first Show-Me Racin' Series win at the end of the night.

Four heat races would start off the exciting night of racing for the late models. The 77a of Justin Asplin took the win in heat one. Heat two was won by the 98 of Justin Wells. Leslie Essary in the 5 came away with the top spot in heat race number three. Kevin Henson in the 15h won the fourth and final late model heat race of the night.

The top sixteen cars in passing points transferred from the heat races to the A Main. Ten drivers were left to race their way through the B Feature for the remaining four transfer positions. The 21 of Jordan Holloway, the 50 of Kathy Tonoli, the 44 of Randy Galloway, and the 9L of Chris Lapp were the final four transfer positions into the A Main. The 73 of Bill McMurtrie and the 11 of Jarrod Hilton received the two points provisional positions.

Twenty-two cars lined up on the front stretch for driver introductions. After a parade lap for the fans, they tightened their seat belts and were ready for the green flag to fly. The 77 of Justin Asplin set the pace to the green from the pole with the 1c of Chris Deaton to his outside. The green fell and the caution was brought out for the 5 of Leslie Essary who cut down his left rear tire on the start. It would be an original restart and the cars lined back up for another go at the green flag. Asplin jumped out to lead and began to pull ahead of the 25b of Chris Morelock in second. The red flag was brought out for the 00 of Jim Fulp in the top of turns three and four. The green light turned on again and the 77 of Asplin continued to stay in the lead. Morelock was half of a straightway away from Asplin. The small track was allowing for some exciting racing with its short straight-a-ways and tight corners. Caution flew once again for the 44 of Randy Galloway in turns one and two on lap fourteen. On the next lap, another caution was brought out for the 25x of Rex Merritt in turn two. Asplin still had the lead. Morelock remained in second, but the 15c of Larry Campbell and the 98 of Justin Wells were having a battle for third. Everyone was fighting for every position; all hoping they could take away the top spot from Asplin. On lap twenty, the 98 of Wells spun bringing out the caution in turns one and two. The 44 of Randy Galloway, 1c of Chris Deaton, and the 15h of Kevin Henson brought out the sixth caution of the late model A Main. Only five laps were left and Asplin had led every lap. The green flag came out and the 77 continued to lead. The 25 of Morelock, 15c of Campbell, and 21 of Jordan Holloway were doing everything they could to steal the win from the man who had led every lap of the A Main. Chris Lap in the 9L brought out the final caution of the night by hitting the wall on the front stretch. The green flag waved for the final time and it was a dash to the finish. The 77a of Justin Asplin was the first to take the checkered and led all 25 laps of the A Main. The top five were the 77a of Justin Asplin, the 25b of Chris Morelock, the 15c of Larry Campbell, the 21 of Jordan Holloway, and the 55 of Ken Essary. During post-race inspection, the 25b of Chris Morelock and the 21 of Jordan Holloway were disqualified.

The Race Brothers Farm and Home Supply Show-Me Racin' Series will make a road trip on Friday the 14 of August to race at the Outlaw Motor Speedway in Muskogee, OK. The owners have requested the drivers remove the tops to put on a topless show for the fans. Don't forget to listen to Talkin' Dirt with Sammy Clapper every Saturday from 10-11 A.M. on KKBL 95.9 or from 12-1 P.M. on KSWM AM 940.
