WHEATLAND, Mo. (June 27) - The Race Brothers Show-Me Racin Series was in action at Lucas Oil Speedway in Wheatland, MO appearing with the USMTS Modifieds. This was the only stop at Lucas Oil Speeedway for the Show-Me Series and the only time the USMTS Modifieds and Race Brothers Show-Me Late Models would be together. Thirty-five Late Model drivers started the night with one thought in mind, the $1500 dollar check in victory circle. Fans filled the stands to watch an evening packed full of exciting racing in one of the best dirt racing facilities you can find.

The night began with four Late Model heat races. Rookie of the Year leader, Larry Campbell in the 15c, took the win in heat number one. Justin Wells in the 98 won the second heat race of the night. The third heat went to the number 11 of Jarrod Hilton. The 1c of Chris Deaton came away with the win in the fourth and final Late Model heat of the night.

Seventeen cars were left to race their way into the A Main through the B Features for the final four transfer positions. The top two from the two B Features would transfer into the A Main. Tim Adams in the 2a and the 1a of Brian Allison were the two who would transfer from the first B Feature. The top two from the second B were the 33 of Rick Lebow and the 73 of Bill McMurtrie. The two Show-Me Racin Series point provisionals were awarded to Kathy Tonoli in the 50 and the 15h of Kevin Henson. Lucas Oil Speedway awarded two point provisionals to their drivers, the 72w of Jake Williams and the 41 of Matt Menzie.

Rain was threatening as the Show-Me and UMLA type cars cars pulled on the track. Since it was a challenge race with Lucas Oil Speedway's ULMA cars, the top ten cars in passing points drew for their starting position. The 98 of Justin Wells would set the pace from the pole with the 77 of Justin Asplin to his outside. The green flag flew and Wells jumped out to the lead, but caution flew for the 21j of Jordan Holloway. The cars lined back up for an original restart. Once again the 98 took the lead and was followed by the 77 of Asplin. Wells began pulling away and on lap nine he began catching lap traffic. Half a track separated the 98 and the 55 of Ken Essary who was now in the third position. Lap twenty brought out a caution for the 72w of Jake Williams in turns one and two. Only fifteen laps were left and the 55 was now in second place. Wells continued to stay strong in the top spot. Another caution was brought out on lap twenty-two for the 44 of Randy Galloway and the 21 of Jordan Holloway in turns three and four while battling for the fourth position. Wells kept the lead and continued pulling away. The 55 and 77 were trying hard to make their way to the 98, but Wells was just too strong. Justin Wells took the checkered on lap thirty-five after leading every lap of the race. The top five were the 98 of Justin Wells, the 55 of Ken Essary, the 77 of Justin Asplin, the 1c of Chris Deaton, and the 25x of Rex Merritt.

The Race Brothers Show-Me Racin' Series will be off for a few weeks but will return to racing action on July 18 in Pocola, OK at Tri-State Speedway. Don't forget to listen to Talkin' Dirt on KKBL 95.9 from 10-11 or on KSWM AM 940 from 12-1 every Saturday.
