GAFFNEY, S.C. (July 3) - Chris Madden took the lead from his outside front row starting position at the drop of the green flag and held on to lead all 40 laps of Cherokee Speedway's O'Reilly Southern All Stars East Independence Shootout. Madden held off a late race - last lap charge of Randle Chupp to secure the $4000 pay day. Chupp was able to pull even with Madden as the two exited turn four heading for the checkered flag. But Madden's highside momentum propelled him ahead as they crossed the stripe. A barage of late race flats were responsible for 5 of the 8 yellow flags of the night. Casey Roberts, who finished 8th, lost a little ground to Monk Gulledge in the quest for the 2008 OSAS-East Points Title. Gulledge picked up his first top five of the year and closed to within 32 points of Roberts.
