GREENWOOD, Neb. (May 30) - Former series champion Kelly Boen has done just about won everything possible when it comes to the O'Reilly/NCRA late model division. However, one race that had eluded him was the annual Alphabet Soup. You can now cross out that race on his "to do" list as the Henderson, Colorado driver took the victory Sunday night at I-80 Speedway in Greenwood, Nebraska. The race was also a co-sanctioned affair with the Lucas Oil MLRA.  May 30th Race Photos

John Anderson of Omaha, Nebraska and Boen started on the front row with Boen jumping out to the early lead. Defending series champion Kyle Berck of Marquette, Nebraska jumped into the runner up position with both drivers waging battle for the top spot for the first half of the race.

Several caution periods dotted the first twenty laps of the forty lap feature event but once pass the midway portion of the event, the rest of the distance went nonstop with Boen picking up the victory unchallenged.

It was the third feature series feature victory of the season for Boen, the second in a row aboard his familiar #07 Roadrunner Fabrication/Peterson Fluid Systems sponsored Rocket Chassis.

Dave Eckrich got past Berck late to take over the runner up position with Brad Looney and Anderson rounding out the top five.

Heat races for the forty-eight car field were won by Chris Simpson, Shawn Harker, Chad Simpson, Boen and Anderson while Delbert Smith and Al Humphrey took home the two, "B" feature honors.

The next event for the O'Reilly/NCRA late model division will be coming up this Friday and Saturday night at Great American Speedway in Jetmore, Kansas for the "Sunflower State Showdown" paying $10,000 to win and $750 just to start the Saturday night feature finale. Then the series will head to the High Banks of Belleville for a special Sunday night appearance.
