David Smith Jr MIDWEST CITY, Okla. (January 31) - An ambitious twenty-five race schedule awaits the O'Reilly/NCRA late model division as they ready for their 27th season that finds them travel to five different states and fifteen different race tracks. Among the highlights on the schedule are all the annual events, including the "Alphabet Soup" and "Cornhusker Classic" events at I-80 Speedway at Nebraska Raceway Park in Greenwood, Nebraska, "NCRA Late Model Nationals" at Mid-America Speedway in Doniphan, Nebraska and "King of the Hill" at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool, Nebraska. A second annual "Showdown in the Heartland" will also take place with four races instead of three and a $10,000 to win event, the second of such event, in the 40 year history of O'Reilly/NCRA.
The season kicks off with the second annual "Showdown in the Heartland" against the Missouri based MARS Dirt car series. 81 Speedway in Park City, Kansas will kick off the four race swing on Thursday night, May 6th before heading to a new stop for the series, Creek County Speedway in Kelleyville, Oklahoma for a Friday night invasion. Brill Motor Speedway in Meeker, Oklahoma will host the tour for the second year in a row on Saturday night before the showdown ends on Sunday night at Monett Speedway in Monett, Missouri.
For the seventh year, Mid-Nebraska Speedway is scheduled to kick off the annual Memorial Day weekend of activities on Friday night, May 28th before heading to the annual "Alphabet Soup" race at I-80 Speedway at Nebraska Raceway Park in Greenwood, Nebraska on Sunday night, May 30th.
Just one week later the second largest paying O'Reilly/National Championship Racing Association event in history takes place at Great American Speedway in Jetmore, Kansas on Friday and Saturday night, June 4-5 with the Saturday night finale paying $10,000 to the feature winner. It will be the second paying $10,000 to win show in the series history with former series champion Al Purkey taking home that amount back in 1997 at 81 Speedway. Drivers will have a chance to pick up $5000 more dollars to close out the weekend on Sunday night as the series makes its first of two events on the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kansas. The entire weekend will be co-sanctioned with the MARS Dirt car series.
The series will then take two weeks off before making their first of two stops on the season at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska on Saturday night, June 19.
I-80 Speedway at Nebraska Raceway Park will kick off the Fourth of July weekend on Friday night, July 2 before the series heads to Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa on Saturday night.
The annual NCRA Late Model Nationals takes place on Friday and Saturday night, July 16-17, at Mid-Nebraska Speedway
After a one year hiatus from the schedule, Eagle Raceway in Eagle, Nebraska is back on the schedule with a Friday night, July 23 outing. The next night the outlaw late models will head to the new Thunder Hill Speedway in Mayetta, Kansas for a Saturday night showdown. The track is under new ownership with long-time series supporters Mike and Dave Conkwright purchasing the facility over the winter months.
The Ed Beckly promoted Dodge City Raceway Park will once again host the biggest late model stars of the region as the series will compete at the beautiful West Kansas facility on Saturday night, August 7 before making their final appearance at the home track of the O'Reilly Auto Parts National Championship Racing Association, 81 Speedway on Sunday night.
One week later it is the annual "King of the Hill" Late Model Nationals at Junction Motor Speedway in McCool Junction, Nebraska on Friday and Saturday night, August 13-14.
Saturday night, August 21 will see Thunder Hill Speedway back on the schedule for the last scheduled time in 2010 before heading to Sedalia's State Fair Speedway in Sedalia, Missouri, which will host the series for the first time since April 29, 2000, on Sunday night.
Labor Day weekend will see I-80 Speedway on the schedule for Friday night, September 3, before heading to the Belleville High Banks in Belleville, Kansas two nights later on Sunday night. This event will also see the O'Reilly/NCRA modifieds and sprints also competing.
The ambitious 2010 race season is then scheduled to be completed on Saturday night, September 25, with the annual running of the Cornhusker Classic.
A total of sixty-four races in six states are slated for all five divisions combined for the 40th anniversary season of the O'Reilly Auto Parts National Championship Racing Association.
