KANSAS CITY, Kans. (October 1) - Eric Turner's first night in the drivers seat of the Pannell Motorsports 33X proved to be his best run with The Lucas Oil MLRA. Hermitage, Missouri's hometown boy, lead all 30 laps on the dialed in, ½ mile track. Turner ran well in his heat, starting in the 5th spot and finishing in 2nd, this earned the 33X the outside pole to start the feature. With no hesitation taking the green flag in the A main event, Eric jumped out to lead the first lap and never looked back. Turner's win comes on night number one of the Clyde Ellis Late Model Showdown and Modified Shootout at Lakeside Speedway.

Eric Turner led the 74 of Jeremy Payne around the track without much interference. Pole sitter Matt Johnson held a steady third place for the first few laps before the Republic, Missouri's Brad Looney closed the gap and took over the position. Turner, Payne and Looney would remain the top three until lap twenty when David Turner would drive around Looney for the third spot. As Turner and Looney fought for position Al Purkey would work his way to the front and become a late race contender. With two laps to go Purkey rounded out the top five. Then, with only one lap remaining the 33P of Purkey would charge around Looney, and on the final lap coming to the checkers he would pass David Turner's 15 machine for a top three finish.

The excitement did not stop with the top five. Keith Foss started and finished the race from the 5th position. Foss was followed by the 58E of Dave Eckrich. Eckrichs' 6th place finish keeps him in the second point position for the 2010 season. Coming home with a top ten finish in his first race with the Lucas Oil MLRA was Jesse Stovall in the 8th spot. Stovall started in the inside of row number eight for the feature in the 16th position. Mike Collins and Kurt Kile took the checkered flag 9th and 10th in the finishing order.

The event drew 41 late models and more than 60 modifieds. The Lakeside Speedway fans came out in great numbers as well, with a near capacity crowd. The Lucas Oil MLRA Championship point's race is even closer going into night two at Lakeside Speedway. Point's leader Brad Looney finished in the 5th spot, but was able to hold on to the top point's position. Dave Eckrich gained a few more points on Looney, only trailing now by 14 points. Al Purkey's third place finish kept him third in the point's race, but he was able to nearly catch Eckrich with only 2 points separating the 33P and 58E.
Complete and updated Lucas Oil MLRA Points standings will be available at www.MLRAracing.com.

Heat winners included, Matt Johnson, Alan Vaughan, Brad Looney and Keith Voss.

Three cars from each of the two B Features transferred to the A Main Event. From B Feature #1, Brantlee Gotschall, Dale McDowell and Brandon McCormick secured feature starting positions. Dale McDowell driver the 17M of Bowyer Dirt Motorsports flew from the outside of row four in the 8th starting position, to finish second. In B Feature #2 Travis Dickes in the 21T was out front early while Tony Jackson Jr. and Evan Hubert in the 9E battled for the second spot. Kyle Berck charged by Hubert and moved into the mix for second position. Jackson Jr. took over the lead, with Dickes and Kyle Berck close behind. Berck and Dickes were able to charge by Jackson Jr. for the top two spots at the checkers. In post race inspection Jackson Jr.'s 56JR was too light, moving the third place finisher of Evan Hubert into the final transfer position for the A Main event. Hubert is out front in the Rookie of the Year contest for the 2010 Lucas Oil MLRA season.

Two series provisionals were awarded, one to the 77A of Justin Asplin and the other to 7J of JD Hubert. Asplin is a Rookie of the Year contender for the 2010 MLRA Championship season.
