CORNING, Iowa (July 3) - Mount Vernon, Iowa's Chad Simpson led all 30 laps from his outside front row starting position to capture the $3,000 to win, 30 lap Lucas Oil MLRA Main Event at Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa on Saturday night. Terry Phillips out of Springfield, Missouri was gunning for his 100th Lucas Oil MLRA win on what would have been Larry Phillips 68th birthday but Phillips settled for second at the finish. Madison, Nebraska's Travis Dickes had a stellar run to score a Top-3 finish with Jason Utter out of Columbus Junction, Iowa in fourth and Henderson, Colorado's Kelly Boen starting fifth and finishing in fifth. The event was Tri-Sanctioned by the Lucas Oil MLRA, the O'Reilly NCRA, and the MARS Dirtcar Series.

Adams County Speedway Race Photos

Terry Phillips started the A-Main right where he left off last night. leading the field across the start finish line from his pole starting position with Mount Vernon, Iowa's Chad Simpson just to his outside but it was Simpson leading lap #1 by a nose over the #75. The front two put a straightaway on the field by lap #4 as Travis Dickes, Jason Utter, and Kelly Boen all battled for position behind the leaders.

The first caution flag of the night flew on lap #7 as Alan Vaughn slowed at the Top of Turn 4. On the restart Phillips chose the high line on the Delaware Double file style restart with Simpson out front by himself and the 21 of Dickes inside of Phillips. Simpson once again powered to a 10 car length lead over Phillips to lead lap #8 the the action was fast and furious throughout the pack with 23 cars still running. Marquette, Nebraska's Kyle Berck suffered problems retiring from competition on Lap #12 as the field remained under the green flag.

At the halfway point Simpson continued to lead but the margin began to shrink as Phillips started to close on the leader with Dickes, Utter, and Boen continuing in the Top-5. With 5 laps to go the Top-5 remained unchanged as the leaders worked their way through lap traffic during the long green flag run as Phillips got stuck behind the 33 of Gary Christian allowing Simpson to streak to the win. At the finish, it was Chad Simpson followed by Phillips, Travis Dickes, Jason Utter, and Kelly Boen.

Simpson's MasterSbilt Chassis is powered by a Pro Power Racing Engine with sponsorship support from Liebe Trucking, GATR Volvo GMC, Farm Bureau Financial Services, Five-Star Shop Services, Brown Brothers Enterprises, Simpson Farms, and Tom Hamer Trucking. The $3,000 to win Tri-Sanctioned Main Event was slowed by just one caution flag for Alan Vaughn. 41 Lucas MLRA Late Models Checked into the pits tonight.
