JEFFERSON, S.D. (July 24) - Henderson, Colorado's Kelly Boen took advantage of his outside front row starting position and led every lap to capture the win in the O'Reilly MLRA "Best of the Midwest 40" at Park Jefferson Speedway in Jefferson, South Dakota on Friday night. 5-Time MLRA Champion, and current MLRA point leader Al Purkey stalked Boen the entire race but came up just short at the line finishing second. Marquette, Nebraska's Kyle Berck started third and ended up in the third spot in the final rundown. 2-Time WDRL Champion, Denny Eckrich finished in fourth while Defending MLRA Champion John Anderson started in the 15th spot and worked his way up to fifth at the finish. David Turner, Mike Collins, Joe Kosiski, Jason Bodenhamer, and Alan Vaughn were sixth through tenth respectively. Heat Race Winners included Kyle Berck, David Turner, Al Purkey, and Kelly Boen. Consolation Race Winners included Al Humphrey and Craig Preble

Race Notes: Boen's Rocket Chassis is Powered by a Jay Dickens Racing Engine with sponsorship support from Road Runner Fabrication, AFCO Racing Products, Intensitee Custom Racewear, Race Wise Dirt Track Chassis School, Peterson Fluid Systems, and Performance Bodies. The 40 Lap Feature was worth $4,000 to win and was a make-up race for the event rained out on July 3rd. Boen is the 4-time and Defending O'Reilly NCRA Champion. The win was Boen's 8th career MLRA Feature win and first of 2009. The "Best of the Midwest 40" was co-sanctioned by the O'Reilly MLRA Presented by Lucas Oil Products and the O'Reilly NCRA. MLRA Provisionals were awarded to Denny Woodworth, Matt Johnson, and Jeremy Kelley. NCRA Provisionals were awarded to Jason O'Brien, Jason Friesen, and Corey Zeitner. The Track Provisional was awarded to Andrew Kosiski. 29 cars started the feature event. The race was slowed by only (2) Cautions. 37 Cars entered the event.

The O'Reilly MLRA now heads to The Adams County Speedway in Corning, Iowa on Saturday night, July 25th as the best Late Model Drivers in the Midwest battle it out for the $3,000 top prize. Hobby Stocks, Pro Streets, and Modifieds will run in support of the MLRA. The Adams County Fair and Racing Association fireworks spectacular will follow after the races. Pit gates open at 4:00pm, with grandstand gates set to open at 5:00pm, and racing scheduled to get underway at 6:30pm. As an added bonus to the weekend, The O'Reilly MLRA also returns to the I-80 Speedway on Sunday night, July 26th for a special $3,000 to win show. Pit Gates will open at 2:30 with Grandstand Gates set to open at 4:00pm and racing action set to get underway at 5:55pm. I-80 and MLRA Officials have pledged to roll the MLRA Feature no later than 9:00pm. NASCAR Late Models and Pro-Ams will also accompany the MLRA Late Models. TICKETS are $18 for Adults, $5 for Juniors (6-15), and 5 & Under admitted FREE. The I-80 Speedway is located off I-80 at exit 420 between Omaha and Lincoln and is part of the Nebraska Raceway Park complex, which also includes the Little Sunset Speedway go-kart track and Soaring Edge Motocross Park.
