Dan Robinson MOBERLY, Mo. (July 11) - Omaha, Nebraska's John Anderson took the lead on lap #3 and never looked back as he claimed the Oscar White Memorial Feature win at the 24 Raceway in Moberly, Missouri on Saturday night, July 11th. The win was Anderson's second O'Reilly MLRA Presented by Lucas Oil Products Feature win of the 2009 season. Alan Vaughn held on for second with Tommy Elston in third. Mark Voigt and Alan Vaughn led the field to the green flag and the action was fast and furious from the get go as the top 3 battled for position with Anderson slipping into the lead on the third lap. The race remained green for the first 18 laps until the caution flag waved for the 29h of Jeremiah Hurst who retired for the evening with a blown engine. The green flag waved again with 22 laps now to go in the 40 lap Main Event with Anderson still leading the way. The second of only three cautions waved again on lap 21 as the leading MLRA Rookie of the Year candidate, Jeremy Kelley found himself in the wall thus ending his night.
As the laps unfolded it was all Anderson as he took the checkered flag ahead of 5-Time MLRA Champion Alan Vaughn. Keokuk, Iowa's Tommy Elston took the third spot after working his way up from his eighth starting spot. A pair of Illinois' drivers rounded out the Top-5 as Quincy's Mark Burgtorf was fourth with Marine, Illinois' Mark Voigt in fifth. Rickey Frankel had an impressive run charging from his 13th starting spot to take sixth with Nick Ingalls in the seventh spot. The remainder of the Top-10 included Joe Kosiski, Bryant Goldsmith, and Brantlee Gotschall.
