BLOOMQUIST FASTEST OF 78 IN NORTH/SOUTH 100 QUALIFYING AT THE FLORNCE SPEEDWAY

UNION, Ky. (August 7) - Current Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Leader; Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN; set the fastest qualifying time of the 78 entrants on hand for the 27th Annual North/South 100 Presented by Lucas Oil on Friday Night at Florence Speedway.

Bloomquist, a two-time winner of the event, was the second qualifier of the evening turned a lap of 17.295 seconds which held up the rest of the way as he earned the PRC Fast Time Award. Jason Jameson of Lawrenceburg, IN was second fastest qualifier overall followed by Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN, Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA and Eddie Carrier Jr. of Salt Rock, WV.

Bloomquist comes into the event leading the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Standings by 165 points over 4-time series champ Earl Pearson, Jr. of Jacksonville, FL. Bloomquist, in his Miller Brothers Coal/Hawkeye Trucking/Sweet Mfg/VP Racing Fuels/Hoosier Tire/Allstar Performance/Vic Hill Racing Engines/Bloomquist Race Cars Monte Carlo SS earned the 10 bonus points that go with setting fast time.

The top three in heat each race will be inverted for Saturday Night's six 12-lap heat races which are set to begin at 8 PM Eastern. The pole sitters for the six heat races will be Joe Armes of Petros, TN; Brad Neat of Dunnville, KY; R.J .Conley of Wheelersburg, OH; Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN; Steve Francis of Ashland, KY; and Bart Hartman of Zanesville, OH.

Activities on Saturday will get underway at 6 PM with the Ninth Annual National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Induction Ceremonies that begin at 6 PM Eastern. Heat race action will begin at 8 PM followed by two B-Mains and the $50,000 to win 27th Annual Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 Presented by Lucas Oil.
