UNION, Ky. (August 8) - Jeremy Payne the 22-year-old Springfield, MO driver who was making his first ever appearance at Florence Speedway was the fastest over all qualifier among 95 entries on Friday Night for the Sunoco Race Fuels North/South 100 Presented by Lucas Oil. Payne driving a GRT by Phillips GTO tripped the clock at 17.559 seconds which earned the PRC Fast Qualifier for the evening. The 95 entries set a new Florence Speedway track record for Late Models.
Payne came out 88th overall in group qualifying to earn the fast time honors. There were two drivers who were disqualified from Friday Night's Time Trials as Terry Casey and Audie McWilliams had their qualifying times disallowed because of illegal tires and will not allowed to race on Saturday.
On Saturday Night starting at 8:00 PM will begin with the first of six heat races to be run with the top three advancing to the $50,000 to win main event. The heat races will be preceded by the Eighth Annual National Dirt Late Model Hall of Fame Ceremonies which will take place beginning at 6:00 PM. The B-mains will then follow with the 100 lap main event to conclude the night of racing.
