TUCSON, Ariz. (February 19) - Steve Drake utilized his front row starting position to his advantage as he ran a flawless race taking home the Saturday night finale of the 2011 Copper on Dirt at USA Raceway. "The car was perfect tonight, all I did was put my head back on the seat and drive it," commented Drake after the race. Nick Bartels completed a fine weekend finishing second to Drake. Nick had won the race the night before. RC Whitwell was the one to watch all night long if you were not watching the two leaders however. Driving a back up car, as his #1 car was badly hurt the night before, RC was sure to be a handful for Drake out front. However, as RC was coming to the front early in the race problems caused him to loop the car in turns one and two. This put RC in the back, but as far as RC was concerned it was game on. RC methodically picked his way through the field passing many fast cars along the way to an astonishing 3rd place finish. If there would have been a timely yellow it would have been quite a race between Steve and Rc. Either way RC was impressive to watch and will certainly be a tough competitor in the Jeff Sires owned machine. Clay Daly and Lonnie Parker Jr. completed the top five. Heat races earlier in the night were won by Anthony Madrid, Mike Kirby and RC Whitwell.
