RINGGOLD, Ga. (April 8) - For the third time this season, Jason Welshan (# 29) from Maryville, Tennessee buzzed the Crate Late Model field at the Boyd's Speedway Friday night. Pocketing the $800. payday with a flag to flag 20 lap victory, Welshan bested David Tindell of Fort Oglethorpe, GA, as well as Kayne Hickman of Soddy Daisy, TN a pair of racers he's all too familiar with racing. Welshan won his preliminary heat race setting himself on the outside FRONT ROW JOE starting spot before sweeping the "A" Main feature. The Team-Kile green/yellow # 29 "ALOT LESS Factory Outlet, Jon's Golfcarts, Advantage Check Cashing, Ronald Sexton Construction Co, Smith's Auto Sales and Centerline Construction" sponsored WEEKS chassised / GM Performance 604 Crate motored racecar was the evenings in-car camera for Speedway Videos.
"We were able to stoll last night..." stated Welshan Saturday "our Boyd's program is really tuff to beat currently. I got slammed in the wall last weekend at our home track (Smokey Mtn. Raceway) and didn't get the opportunity to compete, so this victory feels vindicated." Welshan concluded, as the team was busy getting ready for Saturday's race. Behind Welshan, Tindell and Hickman, were 2010 Boyd's Crate Champion Craig Burrows and runner-up in the points Jerry Coffman. Welshan stated he's looking forward to competing regularly at Boyd's and should be the new points leader heading into next Friday night's Crate LM races.
