Winchester Speedway WINCHESTER, Va. (April 9) - Josh Richards collected the $2000 pay day at Winchester Speedway on Saturday April 9, 2011 at Winchester Speedway, Winchester VA topping the 24 car field. Front row starters Darryl Hills and Tony Crim lead the field to the green with Crim taking the top spot on lap one only to see third place starter Jeremy Miller take the top spot. On lap nine third starting Richards would make the move on Miller and take the top position. Richards and Miller leading the way thru the first sixteen laps would see ninth starting DJ Myers make his way thru the field for the third spot. Caution would fly on lap twenty -four sending pole sitter Hills pit side with a broken rear. Lap twenty five would see Myers tangle and have to be sent to the rear of the field. By lap twenty seven its Richards, Miller and Spence with eighth place starter Dale Hollidge who had worked his way into the fourth position. Making his way into the mix was eighteenth place starter Walter Crouch. Miller giving it everything he had could not make the move on Richards, on the final circuits Miller and Spence were side by side with Spence going high as Hollidge would make the move to take the third spot from Spence. Josh Richards would go onto claim the victory, with Miller second, Hollidge third, Spence fourth and coming from the eighteenth starting spot for a top five was Walter Crouch. Sixth was Jason Covert, seventh Ronnie DeHaven Jr, eighth Chuck Clise ,ninth Kyle Hardy and rounding out the top ten was Brad Omps. Heat race wins went to Jason Covert, JT Spence, and Tony Crim.
In the 20 lap Limited Late Model feature event it was Bubby Tharp Jr picking up his first ever career win after a five year wait. Front row starters Richard Hawkins and Leon Lloyd lead the field to the green with Lloyd taking the top spot. Caution flew on lap two to slow the field. Field reset seen Lloyd leading the way but Tharp made his presence know as he would make the pass on lap four. Several more cautions would fly during the twenty lap main, but Tharp would not give up that top spot. Tharp would go onto claim his first ever win, followed by Kris Eaton, Brian Buckler, Dale Smith and rounding out the top five was Jimmy Richards. The heat race was won by Kris Eaton
In the fifteen lap Pure Stock main event it was 2010 track Champion Mike Bennett picking up the win. Front row starters Bryan Kerns and Mike Grady Jr lead the field to the green with Kerns taking the top spot, Grady would fight back to lead the next several laps but it was Bennett who wanted that top spot. Bennett would get the lead on lap five and never look back to claim the win. Fifth starting David Kaiser would cross second, Corbin third, last weeks feature winner James Gray would come from the twelth starting spot to take fourth and rounding out the top five was Mike Rose. The heat races were won by James Gray Jr, and Mike Grady Jr
In other action Mark Diggs would pick up the 4 Cylinder main event over Hunter Crane, Tommy Whitt, Billy Sonner and Scott Mccartney. Heat race wins went to Randy Linaburg and Tommy Whitt.
The first U-Car main event was won by Ronnie Bolstridge, second Doug Crank, third Austin Soverm fourth TJ Faderly and rounding out the top five was Kevin Welsh.
The second UCar main event was won by Travis Carroll, Jason Wilkins would cross second, third two timje winner Brenda Alexander, fourth Josh Wilkins and fifth went to 2010 track champion Kevin Oates. The heats were won by Austin Stover, Brenda Alexander, and Jeff Oster
Winchester Speedway returns to action on Saturday April 16, 2011 with a 30 lap open tire Super Late Model main event paying $1500 to win, along with Late Models, Pure Stocks, 4 Cylinders, U-Cars and Cyclones.
