Brian Chalmers KWINANA BEACH, Western Australia (December 21) - Some of the most exciting Dirt late Model racing seen in years happened at the Perth Motorplex Sedan Muster tonight for the R2C Pro Dirt Series Round.
The heats were scorching, lap times were falling fast each & every time a race hit the track, first it was Brad Ludlow taking the lead in one of the early heats hitting lap times of mid 16s only to followed straight after with Jay Cardy & the USA sensation Jeep Van Wormer touching into mid to very low 16s also.
These guys all raced very close with respect to shown to all.
The Heat racing was some of the best I have seen in years at the high banked venue.
The race between USA Jeep Van Wormer & the young gun Jay Cardy was worth the price of admission alone, the two swapped positions on the track a numerous amount of times and the one thing Jeep had was experience on his side coming out eventual winner of the heat.
A couple of early race incidents occurred on the opening lap of the final but one restarted in the ever popular two wide restart format, the action was on from the get go, It was hard to watch one part of the race as so much action was happening all around, the duel between Brad Ludlow & Jeep Van Wormer for the lead was intriguing but back in the pack Mick Hamon was moving up, Jeremy Hale has seemed to have found the magic in his new GRT, Ben Ludlow was consistent as usual, Craig Vosbergen found what he has been looking for & hit the high line wide open and slotting into second place behind Wormer.
That's how they would cross the line, as the top 3 made their way to the R2C Winners Podium they had this to say after the race.
First - Jeep Van Wormer: "I would really like to thank the Oldfiled boys & their extended family, they have been very good to us & supplying me with an awesome car to drive, my mate Warren Bishop & his Dad, they have made it possible for me to be able to get out here to run this month & I cannot thank those guys enough & of coarse God who makes this all possible for us to race week in & week out" Second - Craig Vosbergen: "We had an awesome car, it was much better when we ran up top, looking at the car now, there isn't a mark on it & that's a credit to my team who give me a great car to drive, my crew & family are awesome & make it possible for me to race each week"
Third - Ben Ludlow: "I would like to thank John Di Candilo who has supported me for so long, Lucas Oils for their support & I must say how much I enjoyed watching Brad tonight, his speed was a thrill to watch"
Craig Vosbergen will now take a nice points advantage from tonight's R2C Pro Dirt Series round & will look to build on that when the Dirt Late Model hit Bunbury City Speedway on Boxing Night.
The R2C Pro Dirt Series round at Bunbury City Speedway will be another magic night of late model racing, Bunbury is a track where locals hero's Brad Blake, Jason Moyle & Mick Hamon will shine & show case their local knowledge of the big Bunbury bullring..
