COLUMBUS, Miss. (November 27) - Jeremy Shaw of Millport, AL swept the 5th Annual NeSmith Chevrolet Weekly Racing Series Invitational Race on Saturday night at Magnolia Motor Speedway. Shaw set fast time among the 31 entrants to start the 25-lap race from the pole position, and then led every lap to win the race driving the Summit Resource Development Trak-Star.

Jamie Tollison of Kosciusko, MS took the second spot in the Tollison's Auto Repair Trak-Star after an early race side-by-side duel with Johnny Virden of Russellville, AR in the Bill Frye Racing GRT. Virden finished third, followed by Jamie Flannagan of Tuscumbia, AL in fourth driving the Seven Springs Lodge Rayburn.

Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL charged from the 13th starting spot to finish fifth in the Ames Racing Rocket. Evan Ellis of Plantersville, MS was sixth in the Ellis Certified Welders Mastersbilt, and Shay Knight of Ethelsville, AL took the seventh spot driving the Dunn's Autos Mastersbilt. Sid Scarbrough of Florence, MS finished eighth in the Cliburn Performance GRT.

The Century Dedicated, Inc. team cars rounded out the top ten with Charlie Henderson of Cottondale, AL taking the ninth spot in his HMS and Justin McRee of Tuscaloosa, AL was tenth in his Trak-Star.

Shaw took the lead at the start of the race with Virden and Tollison racing side-by-side for second, followed by Knight and Scarbrough. On lap two, Scarbrough and Flannagan got by Knight to take the fourth and fifth spots respectively. The first of three caution flags came out on lap four when Tody Ratcliff of Meridian, MS spun the Henkel Loctite Trak-Star in turn two.

On the restart, a multi-car tangle coming off the fourth turn brought out the second caution flag that sent Jered Smith of Hazlehurst, MS in the Smith Racing Trak-Star, Chad McCool of Millport, AL in the M&M Logging Mastersbilt and Reed Long of Columbus, MS in the Burns Dirt Construction GRT to the pit area for the night.

The field raced for another lap before the third and final caution flag came out on lap five when brothers Johnny Stokes of Columbus, MS in the TJC Mortgage GRT and Mark Stokes of Steens, MS in the Chuck's Speed Shop Trak-Star got together on the backstretch. Shaw led Virden, Tollison, Scarbrough, Flannagan, Knight, Burdett, Henderson, Shannon Lee of Lumberton, MS in the Billy Riels Racing DWB and Ellis down for the restart.

Knight got by Flannagan and Scarbrough to move up to the fourth spot on lap six, and Tollison got around Virden for the second position on lap seven. Flannagan passed Scarbrough for the fifth spot on lap 13.

Shaw began to encounter the cars on the tail of the lead lap on lap 15, and was mired in heavy lapped traffic for the last ten laps of the race, as Tollison began to close the gap. Shaw was able to keep lapped cars between himself and Tollison, while several drivers made moved among the top ten spots.

Knight began to fade in the closing laps, as he dropped from fourth to seven, while Flannagan moved up to fourth, Ames came blasting through the top ten to take fifth, and Ellis grabbed the sixth spot. The two preliminary ten-lap B-Main races were won by Ellis and Mark Stokes.
