RINGGOLD, Ga. (September 10) - With a special prayer remembering those whom lost their lives 9-year ago tomorrow, racing action kicked off with a Full Program for all 5-divisions at BOYD's SPEEDWAY. Rough track conditions plagued the track all night and despite efforts from owner Richard Harvey, with the Heavy Weight Machinery, action was to say the least A WILD RIDE... In the Steel-head LM division it was Jake Knowles of Tyrone, GA picking up his first ever win at the TENNESSEE/GEORGIA stateline track. Knowles normally pilots his families # 66 "Cruise with the Champions" SLM racecar, but instead jumped behind the wheel of Richard Austin's white # A19 "Austin Trucking" sponsored MasterSbilt. Knowles lead from the CAT-BIRD's SEAT and had at one time a half-track lead on current Steel-Head points leader Rick Hixson. Late in the 25 lapper Kingston, TN's Dan Tipton passed Hixson for second as Brian Jackson and Jimmy Elliott rounded out the Top 5.

In the Crate feature race, Robby Mason and Jeff Smith went at it after prevailing in their respective heats. After swapping the lead a handful of times at the start of the 20 lapper, Smith in the # 17S "Hill Motorsports" racecar took it home to JODY MILLARD PEST CONTROL Victory Lane. Elbert McCullough whom started 7th, raced past an ill fading (frontend damaged) Mason with Kevin Gibson and Mack McCarter rounding out the Top-5. Corey Cresswell in the #12 "Rick Coulter Racecars, KC Graphics" sponsored racecar scored a WOLLY-BOOGER of a victory over, you guessed it Booger Brooks. Steve Tate, Jeff McKenzie and Jody Hixson followed to round out the A-Hobby feature Top-5. Points leader Mike Chapman scored a wild finishing B-Hobby win. And in the evenings final race James Dykes put a powerbomb on leader Jason Whitt to score another FWD feature win. Behind Dykes was Jimbo Breland, Richard Hickman, David Britton and Miss Hailey Cresswell. Full racing programs wrap up September for the next few weeks before OCTOBER-FAST creeps in with THREE BIG EVENTS in a row.
