CLEVELAND, Tenn. (August 28) - Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, TN, took the win in both Super Late Model 30 lap feature races Saturday night at Cleveland Speedway. Picking up where rain halted the program last week (8/21), Hickman took control of feature #1 on lap 16, from leader LIL' John Owenby. Hickman would hold off a late charge by Rick Hixson for his second victory of 2010. Owenby would finish 3rd as Shawn Chastain over took Todd Morrow to round out the Top-5. In feature #2 again the #R1 "Hickman Manufacturing, American Billett, Austin Trucking, Racecar Bodies by Hixson" MasterSbilt / Racetek driver worked his magic out qualifying fourteen (14) other SLM racers before going on the lead all 30 laps, again with Hixson on his heels. Hickman got his 3rd "W" of 2010 while Morrow got 3rd in this race. Owenby and Kevin Gill rounded out the Top-5 finishers.

In the Special Pony: Stacy McAllister Memorial $1,500 to-WIN event, 37 racers from around the region signed in a week ago. Michael Courtney seemed to have things well in and was looking to put an end to Scott Morgan's dominance, but with four laps remaining the Easley, SC driver continuingly applied pressure and took the lead from Courtney with ease. Morgan's # 9 "Passmore Roofing, Halloway Racing Engines" sponsored Ford went on to hold off ($100) fast qualifier Jamie Madison for the win. Morgan won his first time at Cleveland Speedway in 2008, pocketing the $1,200 payday and returned last year to pocket the $2,700 payday. "We're three for three, here at Cleveland, I like this place alot." stated Morgan to the fans. "I like leading more" the winner concluded, "but that was a good strong run for us." Jimmy Elliott was the highest finishing local Pony racer in 3rd with Billy Callahan and Wendall Ingram rounding out the Top-5. Many Pony's (not Morgan) returned for the 2nd race. It was won by Tim Ladd, with Ingram 2nd, Callahan 3rd, Tim Duggard 4th and Dustin Stephens 5th.

The first LLM/Crate race saw 3rd generation racer David Doss of Cleveland, break through for his first win in a LM style racecar. The # 28D "Doss Motor Co, Eddie Halls Trucking, Crye Leike Realtors, Calhoun's Auto Auction" sponsored racer held off lap after lap challenges from veteran Lamar Scoggins. Justin Litchford, Craig Burrows and Josh Morrow rounded out the Top-5 of feature #1. In the second feature another new generation racer took the win. Tanner Works held off THE BIG RED MACHINE; Brian Pritchard in a neck and neck 20 lapper, scoring his 2nd win of the season. Burrows, Scoggins and Litchford followed across the finishline. The B-Hobby races (both) were taken by Johnney Hughes, while Robbie Green took the lone A-Hobby feature over Richard Dixon, Dustin Cansler, Jordan Rodabaugh and Robby Hixson. Races return back to the 8PM start-time next Saturday 9/4 with all classes (SLM - LLM/Crate - A&B-Hobby & Pony).
