County Line Raceway
ELM CITY, N.C. (August 14) - The late models, who ran 2 heat races instead of their normal 2 laps of qualifying, would see the 11S of Neal Sykes and Damon Kotke on the front row for Saturday night's Late Model feature at the County Line Raceway. Neal Sykes would take the point coming out of two with Damon challenging hard. Damon was looking on the inside when the caution flew for Chris Mabe. Christian Thomas passed Roger Lucas for 3rd spot but out front it was all Sykes. The top 5 cars really put on a great show and by the halfway mark, any of these guys could've got the win. Sykes was finally able to put some daylight between him and Kotke, and Buddy Isles, Jr was putting the pressure on him for 2nd. As Sykes hugged the bottom groove of the race track and continued to pull away, but Kotke was a man on a mission & finally started gaining ground. Coming to the line with 5 to go Damon found the groove he needed to get around Sykes and took over the lead and was pulling away! Taking the checkers for his first win of 2010, Damon Kotke!! He was followed by Neal Sykes, Buddy Isles, Jr, Roger Lucas and Christian Thomas.
