PINSON, Ala. (July 7) - The traveling stars and cars of the Lucas Oil Dirt Late Model Series invade Mississippi this weekend for the annual "Clash at the Mag." Presented by the Columbus Convention and Visitors Bureau at the modern Magnolia Motor Speedway just out side of Columbus. Always one of the most anticipated events held in the South, interest in the event is always substantial. A nice $20,000 dollar check awaits the winner of the hundred lap grind, each starter is guaranteed $1000 dollars to make the show. Magnolia is very modern facility with ample room for drivers and the fans. This event will see point leader Scott Bloomquist battle it out with many national stars such as Jimmy Owens, Earl Pearson Jr. and Don O' Neal. Red hot Ray Cook will be joined with Dale McDowell, Steve Casebolt and Dan Schlieper. Along with all the regular Lucas competitors will be regional stars such as Bub McCool, Anthony Burroughs and many others. The track is promoted by Johnny Stokes who also handles the track prep, Johnny is known as "Dr. Dirt" in the South and he knows how to prepare a reliable surface. Magnolia in known to have one of the best black ice surfaces in the country. The track features terrace concrete seating perfect for lawn chairs and also trackside parking for both cars and motorhomes.

Thursday night July 8th will have an open practice from 7:00-10:00pm. Friday night will have qualifying and heat races for the Lucas competitors along with Nesmith Late Models, and Street Stocks. Saturday night the Lucas teams will race in consolation races and the big $20,000-to-win 100 lap "Clash at the Mag." Nesmith Late Models, Street Stocks, Open Wheel Modifieds and Mini Stocks round out the busy card. Pit gates open each day at 2:00pm. while the spectator gates open at 4:00pm. Action starts at 8:00pm. Friday and 7:00pm Saturday night.
