TAZEWELL, Tenn. (June 19) - Another muggy evening awaited race fans as they came through the gates at the Taz Saturday. The track promised to be fast and smooth as the cars took to the high-banks and began the night's racing program. During hot laps the cars were indeed fast and the track very much to the driver's liking. After the hot lap sessions were over qualifications began with the Modified Street class. Robbie Buchanon's 13.3 second lap was the fastest. Following the Modified Street cars were the Classics and Logan Dukes put his car on the pole position with a 14.158 second lap. Next were the Tazewell Late Models and Jason Trammell came out first and set the time for all to beat with a 11.808 second lap. The lap was fast enough to hold off all challengers and take the pole for the feature race. The Four-Cylinders were next with Chuck McMahan grabbing the pole with a lap of 14.594 seconds.

The Tazewell Late Models were up with friendly rivals Jason Trammell and Travis Fultz starting on row one. Trammell was hungry for a win and Fultz was looking to stay ahead in the points race. The two hammered into turn one with Trammell enjoying an ever so slight advantage. Fultz fell behind with James England in third. On lap 2 a caution fell for a Phil Helton spin and bunched the field up for a restart. By lap 6 Trammell had a 5 car length advantage as Greg Estes was fighting for England's third spot. On lap 11 Estes got hung behind a lap car while trying to make the pass and suffered damage ending his night. Back at the front it was Trammell, Fultz and England the top three. On lap 13 the top two put on a great side-by-side show until Fultz cleared the 90J of Trammell. On lap 23 Trammell took it down low and pulled up to the rear quarter of Fultz. On lap 27 the caution flag flew again this time for Jay Allen who had to leave the racing surface. The top three now was Fultz, Trammell and England. On the restart Fultz took the lead again but Phillip Nichols had problems and another yellow was displayed on lap 28. Fultz had to hold off the fast Trammell to get the win and did just that as he took the win in a great, crowd pleasing Tazewell Speedway Late Model feature event. After the race had ended Trammell showed Fultz that he was unhappy with the way Fultz had passed him and the two cars had to be separated by track officials. Fultz pulled into victory lane to the cheers of the crowd but Trammell had proved to his fans that he was back.
