TRAVELERS REST, Va. (June 19) - Ricky Weeks prevails at Travelers Rest Speedway in his Adams Electric, Parton Lumber, and Starrette Trucking sponsored Rocket Chassis. "I would like to give special thanks to Phyllis and Ike for everything they do for me" said Ricky Weeks in victory lane. "My car was great tonight and I could go anywhere I wanted too on the track". The win is Weeks first win of the season in the Clash South which helped propel him to the top of the point standings.

Ricky Weeks choose the outside lane on the start of the feature go which almost turned out to be detrimental to his night. When the green flag was dropped, the 22 of Chris Ferguson got the jump on the inside lane and overpowered Weeks heading into turn 1. As the field came around under the starters stand, the 32 of Jim Rasey slammed the outside wall in turn 4 in which he actually rode the top of the wall. Rasey had minor damage after the incident and was able to continue. On the restart, they stacked them up like cord wood in turn two, when the F1 of Keith Freeman and the 84 of Jay Sessoms collided and came to rest on the outside of the corner. Then on lap 2, Ferguson tried widening out the racetrack by hitting the outside turn 4 wall allowing Weeks to take the lead with a pass on the inside.

The 17 of Tim Allen has had nothing but bad luck the entire season and Saturday night was no different. Allen made a strong move to the inside of the 121 of Benji Cole heading into turn 1 and was setting sail for Weeks when the driveshaft came apart as he approached turn 3. Allen was on the move in his LED and Dirt Track Racing School sponsored LED Engines powered GRT Impala.

On lap 11, the 04 of Ritchie Corley spun in turn 4 in his Traffic Circle USA sponsored HRS powered GRT Chassis. Under caution, Ferguson went pit side while running 3rd for a flat right front tire and would later pull into the pits and go behind the wall on lap 29. On the restart Weeks was able to power away from the field yet again and hold off the rest of the field after 2 more cautions slowed the field. Coming home in 2nd was the 121 of Benji Cole in his Turner Recycling sponsored Randy Clary powered DWB Chassis. 3rd was the 32 of Jim Rasey in his Twin Oaks Service sponsored C and C Performance powered Rocket Chassis. 4th was the B4 of Lee Cooper in his FKW Restorations sponsored Clements powered Rayburn Chassis. Rounding out your top 5 was the D8 of Dustin Mitchell in his Mitchell and Dickerson Motorsports sponsored Vic Hill powered Rocket Chassis.

The Clash South race at Travelers Rest was a first for many new drivers. Tim Allen brought out a new car for the 2010 season. Keith Freeman made his first trip to a Clash South race this season at Travelers Rest along with Benji Cole making his first appearance of the season. Keith Freeman drove his Premium Plumbing, Custom Race Engines, Rocket Chassis to a 6th place finish. Lee Cooper raced in his first ever Clash South race as a former crate driver who has had many laps on Travelers Rest Speedway. Jim Rasey made his first ever appearance at Travelers Rest Speedway Saturday night and said he really enjoyed the track and looks forward to coming back in the future. Randy Harmon also made his first appearance at Travelers Rest and came home in the 8th position in his Randy Shupe Farms and Logging, Charlie Buck powered GRT Chassis. Finally, Ritchie Corley made his first appearance of the season at a Clash South event.

After two races in the newly formed Clash South, Ricky Weeks sets atop the standings followed by Jim Rasey, Chris Ferguson, Tim Allen, and Jeff Smith are your current top 5.
