Winchester Speedway WINCHESTER, Va. (October 23) - Winchester Speedway held its 1st Annual Raye Vest 50 Memorial on October 22 & 23, 2010 and it was Josh Richards taking home the $10,000 to win victory. Thirty Two Late Models checked into the pit area for this 2 day event with time trials, heat races, 2 (24) lap qualifiers and a 50 lap main event. Shane Clanton set fast time on Friday Night with a lap time of 14.820. The time trials determined the line-up for the 24 lap $2400 to win feature on Friday Night October 22, 2010. Front row starters Clanton and JT Spence lead the field to the green with Clanton taking the top spot only to be slowed by caution to reset the field.Field ready for green would see Clanton once again take the top spot only to see third place starter Richards power by for the top spot moving Clanton to second. Outside pole sitter Spence applied pressure to Clanton making the pass on lap five for the runner up spot. Caution would fly on lap eight resetting the field with Richards, Spence and Clanton. Richards in control would go onto claim the 24 lap main event Spence would cross second, third Clanton, fourth Dan Stone and rounding out the top five was Rick Eckert.
In Saturday Night's first 24 lap qualifier the top twelve would advance to the 50 lap $10,000 to win main and it was Shane Clanton picking up the win over Jeremy Miller.Ron Davies would cross third, fourth Richards, fifth Booper Bare, sixth Eckert, seventh Dan Stone, eighth Scott Labarron, ninth Mark Pettyjohn, tenth Walter Crouch, eleventh Brad Omps and twelth went to Tom Decker.
The second 24 lap qualifier went to Ronnie Dehaven JR, second Jamie Lathroum, third JT Spence, fourth Stuhler, fifth Andy Anderson, sixth Tommy Armel, seventh Derek Byler, eighth Dale Hollidge, ninth Gerald Davis, tenth Allan Brannon, eleventh Jim Yoder and twelth went to Chad Hollenbeck. The four Late Model heat races were won by Clanton, Spence, Richards and Dehaven.
The final 50 lap main event paying $10,000 to win would see Josh Richards pick up the win.Front row starters Shane Clanton and Ronnie Dehaven would lead the field to the green with Clanton taking the top spot over Dehaven.Clanton in control would see a caution fly on lap twelve for a slow moving Dehaven. Field ready for green with Clanton, Spence, Miller and Richards. The green would fly as Richards would take third and set his sights on second. Richards would make the pass for second on lap fourteen and set his sights on Clanton. A caution on lap seventeen slowed the field. Clanton leading, Richards second would battle as the field got into lapped traffic Richards was looking for that top spot. Clanton and Richards fighting for the top spot would see Richards make the move on lap thirty to take the top spot. Caution flew on lap thirty-seven for a slow moving Miller. Richards leading the way seen Clanton second and Spence third. The final caution flew on lap forty-two to reset the field. Richards leading the way would see Clanton and Spence battling for the runner up spot. Richards would pick up the win, Clanton second, third Spence, fourth Tommy Armel, fifth Jamie Lathroum.
In the 25 lap Limited Late Model main event it was Glenn Elliott picking up the win. Front row starters Elliott and Kenny Moreland would lead the field to the green with Elliott taking the top spot. The duo would battle with a caution flying on lap nine to reset the field. Elliott in control still had Moreland sitting in the second spot looking for that top spot but vould not make the move. Moreland would cross second, third David Williams, fourth Kyle Hardy and rounding out the top five was Micheal Walls.Heat race wins went to Elliott and Moreland.
The Pure Stock main event would see Terry Staton pick up the win over Mike Corbin, third James Gray, fourth Darrin Younkers, and fifth went to David Kaiser.Mike Bennett set fast time.
In Friday Nights U-Car main event it was Josh Wilkins picking up the win over Brenda Alexander, Ronnie Bolstridge, Jason Wilkins and rounding out the top five was Mike Grady Jr. The heat races were won by Grady and Wilkins.
In Saturday nights action it was Robert Plaugher Sr picking up the win over David Rhodes, Jason Wilkins, Sean Williams and Kevin Oates. The heat races were won by Sean Williams and Jason Wilkins.
