Lake Cumberland Speedway BURNSIDE, Ky. (October 16) - Lake Cumberland Speedway had a $1,500 to win special for Super Late Models and an $800 to win Modified special on Saturday evening at Skylar Marlar of Winfield, TN would take top honors in the Super Late Model division, while Shon Flanary of Church Hill, TN would be the winner in the Modified division. Other feature winners for the evening included John Smith of Winfield, TN in Super Dirt Stocks, Jim Price of Salem, IN in Frontrunners, and David Robertson of Glasgow, KY in Open Four Cylinders.
The Super Late Model main event would see Skylar Marlar survive a couple of close calls in lapped traffic in process of leading all 30 laps of the Super Late Model main event. Marlar would score the victory aboard his Dillon Construction/Doors-N-More/ Marlar Auto Mart/GM Performance sponsored #257 C.J. Rayburn Race Car, CT525 powered machine. Johnny Wheeler would finish second, while Tommy Bailey would claim third. Victor Lee would come back to finish fourth after a tangle on lap 6 with Bobby Wolter, Jr. that saw Lee have to restart at the rear and Wolter, Jr. be finished for the night, with Tim Patrick completing the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be David Webb, Steve Elliott, 16th starting Rod Carter, Jr., 18th starting Jeff Rawlings, and Jim Price. In preliminary action, Lee would be the top qualifier among 26 entries at 13.241 seconds, with heat race wins going to Marlar, Wolter, Jr., and Wheeler, while Doodle Farris would score the B-Main win.
The 20 lap Open Wheel Modified main event would several caution periods slow the pace, but would be the only slowing to Shon Flanary's torrid pace at the point, with Flanary picking up the win in the seat of his FAST Trucking/Custom Suspensions/ Custom Contracting/JB Performance/Fibertech/AFCO Racing Products/Impact Racing sponsored #98 Harris Race Car, Custom Race Engines mount. Eighth starting Tim Patrick would take runner-up honors, with polesitter Keith Smith claiming third. Keith Denny and Skylar Marlar would complete the top five, with Marlar coming back to fifth after spinning while running second. Rounding out the top ten would be Travis Preston, Jimmy Lennex, Jr., Joseph Patrick, Billy Uptegraft, and Ricky Tinch. In preliminary events, Steve Beck would be the top qualifier among 20 entries at 14.964 seconds, while heat race wins were taken by Smith and Flanary.
The Super Dirt Stock main event would see four caution periods before action finally got underway with John Smith getting past last week's winner Tyler Cain with three laps remaining to drive on to the win in his West Haven Auto Parts/Roe Racing Engines sponsored #23. Cain would finish second, with Lindsey Decker scoring a third place finish. Pherman Stewart and Jay Craig completed the top five. Smith would be the top qualifier at 15.313 seconds, while Cain would win the heat.
The Frontrunner main event would be a spirited affair with Jim Price leading the entire way to score his first win at Lake Cumberland Speedway behind the wheel of his Ductz sponsored #25. James Burton would finish a close second, followed by Cameron Marlar in third. Michael Coleman and William Collett would complete the top five. Price would also win the heat.
There would only be two Open Four Cylinder entries and David Robertson would lead the entire distance in picking up the win in his unsponsored #2T Chevette. Justin Hubbuch would finish second.
