(September 25) - It was the final event of the 2010 racing season on Saturday night at Bluegrass Speedway in Bardstown, KY and Dustin Neat of Dunnville, KY would pick up the win in the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model main event. Billy Meredith of Hodgenville, KY would score the victory in the $400 to win Bob Jones Tribute for the WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman division, while Timmy Glazer of Bardstown, KY would win the $300 special for the UMP Street Stock division. Jason Wheatley of Loretto, KY was the winner of the UMP Modified feature event.
Dustin Neat would take the lead at the drop of the green flag in the 25 lap 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model feature event and would hold off the charges of Tim Tungate throughout the race and survived a scare in lap traffic on the final lap to claim the victory in the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model main event aboard his Red Buck Cigars/Neat Service Center/NWN Distributing/D&R Livestock/Barnett Construction/Southern Kentucky Monument sponsored #25 Longhorn Chassis, Estes Race Engines powered machine. Tungate would finish second, while Tim Prince would ride home in third. Joey Daniel and Jeff Watson would complete the top five. The remainder of the top ten would be Jarryd Holshouser, Josh Harris, Bill Blair, Jr., Jim Price, and Randy Robbins. Neat would also be top qualifier among 16 entries at 14.853 seconds and also won the dash, while Harris won the heat. Tim Tungate is the 2010 Bluegrass Speedway 44 Auto Mart Super Late Model track champion.
The Bob Jones Tribute for the WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman would see Billy Meredith and Pat Hagan battle for the biggest part of the 20 lap distance, with Meredith keeping Hagan at bay to pick up the $400 to win event in the seat of his Easy Trucking/ Elite Auto Group/Parkway Service Center/Cabin Creek Farm sponsored #25 Chevy Monte Carlo. Hagan would settle for runner-up honors, with Avral Thompson claiming third. Roger Cecil would take fourth, while Tracy Hack would score a fifth place effort. Completing the top ten were Sam Mull, Elton Martin, Tim Cummings, Barry Chesser, and Rob Jones. Hagan would set a new division track record in time trials among 12 entries at 18.197 seconds and also won the dash, while Hack would claim the heat win. Avral Thompson is the 2010 Bluegrass Speedway WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman track champion.
The $300 to win special for the UMP Street Stock division would see Timmy Glazer survive a pair of late race cautions and hold off all challengers to pick up the victory for the division in his Cecil Transmission/Sam Murphy Race Engines sponsored #93 Chevy Monte Carlo. Scott Beeler would outdistance Mark Filiatreau to take the second position, with Mike Bailey and Garnett Eldridge completing the top five. Rounding out the top ten were Willie Edelen, Johnny King, Shane Lafollette, Joe Walker, and Jacqueline Ballinger. Terry Greenwell was top qualifier among 16 entries at 19.707 seconds, while Glazer also won the dash, with Eldridge winning the heat. Timmy Glazer is the 2010 Bluegrass Speedway UMP Street Stock track champion.
Jason Wheatley and Benji Lee would battle throughout the 20 lap UMP Modified main event, with Wheatley staving off a last lap surge from Lee to win the feature event by one-half car length in the Kaylee and Tommy Wheatley owned St. Joe Garage/VFM Manufacturing/Wheatley Seamless Gutters/Wheatley Tile Flooring/Wheatley Auto Sales/Brian Wheatley Landscaping/Gootee and Mattingly Heating and Cooling/Central Kentucky Electrical and Plumbing/Mark Martin Chevrolet/Springfield Auto and Farm/ Cozy Corner/Brady Excavating/Rosewood Golf Course/Nukem Graphics/TSM Shocks sponsored #7 Larry Shaw by Landers Race Car, Mullins Race Engines powered mount. Lee would finish second, followed by Dion Benningfield in third. Leo Brady and Jeff Stith rounded out the top five. Completing the top ten were Rocky Wilson, Blake Cook, Brad Schlosser, Randall Basham, and Brian Foster. Thirteen entries saw heat race wins fall to Wheatley and Lee. Jason Wheatley is the 2010 Bluegrass Speedway UMP Modified track champion.
