Michael Despain BARDSTOWN, Ky. (September 18) - About halfway through UMP Street Stock time trials at 7:30 p.m., a widespread power outage occurred in the Nelson County area and after a one hour delay, track promoters David and Anita Ferrell were forced to cancel the racing program for the evening.
With the county-wide noise ordinance curfew of 11:00 p.m., there would be no way to conclude the racing program by the designated and without knowing what time power might be restored, along with the safety of race fans in the darkened grandstand area, the decision was made to cancel the racing program for the evening.
A total of 15 Super Late Models, 12 UMP Modifieds, 12 UMP Street Stocks, and 8 UMP Sportsman were on hand and Joey Daniel was the top qualifier in Super Late Model time trials at 14.917 seconds before the power outage took place.
All tickets and pit passes will be honored from the cancellation at the regular season finale event on Saturday September 25. Also, anyone from the August 14 rainout that has a ticket or pit pass, those will also be honored that evening as well.
The next scheduled event at Bluegrass Speedway will be the 2010 season finale that will feature the $300 to win special for UMP Street Stocks that was cancelled on September 18, along with a $400 to win special for the WBRT 1320-AM UMP Sportsman, which will be a tribute to the late Bob Jones. Also in action will be the 44 Auto Mart Super Late Models, paying $1,000 to win and the UMP Modifieds, paying $500 to win.
