PITTSBURGH, Penn. (September 17) - South Park PA's Keith Barbara won the first leg of the UFO/ULMS Tri -Star Pittsburgher, for the Hoosier Tire Mid Atlantic DIRTcar Super Late Models. In a wild event that saw leaders come and go. Barbara took advantage of a late race restart to grab the win, his first of the season. Brandon Burgoon and Steve Baker brought the field down for the green. Burgoon took off and set a torrid pace the first few laps. Dave Hess Jr. moved into second with Baker in third. The race suffered from many cautions, the first of which had Dylan Yoder slowing in turn three. The very next lap Chad McClelland slowed bringing out the yellow. On the restart, Hess took over and led Burgoon, Jared Miley, Baker and Bump Hedman. Then on lap 7 Jason Rider and Jim Stephans brought out the caution again. Jared Miley pitted at this point and did not return. A yellow on lap 11 for debris slowed the field again. On the restart Burgoon took over first with Hess, Baker, Hedman and John Garvin trailing. Boom Briggs brought out the next caution on lap 14, but would return. On the restart, it was Hess again out front over Burgoon, John Garvin and Baker. Lap 15 saw Dave Johnson's car loose his front end and bring out the red. Hess was leading over Garvin, Burgoon and Baker. Burgoon got back around Garvin for second while Hess was still leading. Lynn Geisler brought the next yellow out on lap 19. Garvin got around Burgoon and battled with Hess for first, while Burgoon was starting to feel pressure from Baker. Lap 23 saw Danny Mitchell slow, as his fire extinguisher went off and he called it a night. Hess battled with Garvin for the lead, with Burgoon and Baker right behind and Boom Briggs recovering from his earlier problems to get into 5th. Hess' fine run came to an end on lap 28 when he blew a right rear tire. Burgoon also pitted, with overheating problems, and would return as would Hess. Garvin and Baker brought the field down for the restart, and Garvin broke and pitted, and Boom Briggs moved out front with Baker in second. Baker, who stuffed all night on restarts , as his "spec" motor just wouldn't go on the restarts on the tacky track, but would get rolling after a lap or two on the high side, challenged Briggs, when Briggs broke a bolt in his steering. Baker had just got by Briggs, who wasn't giving up. Just then on lap 31, Jon Hodgkiss slowed on the front straight bringing out the races last yellow. Briggs pitted at this point, and Baker led on the restart, but just couldn't get going again and Keith Barbara and Hess, (who came back from the flat) got around him. At the finish it was 23rd starting Barbara, Hess, Baker, Hedman, Jim Lepro, Burgoon, Brandon Wearing, Boom Briggs, John Garvin, and Jon Hodgkiss. The race was hard on equipment as only 7 cars finished. Heats for the 28 cars on hand went to Boom Briggs, John Garvin and Steve Baker.

The 30 Lap BRP Modified portion of the Tri-Star Pittsburgher saw Frenchville PA's Del Rougeaux, pick up his first ever win at the track. Rougeaux and Kevin Bolland put on a wild side by side battle, for almost the entire caution filled event, swapping the lead officially six times (but made unofficial passes thru out the laps even more). Restarts controlled the tempo of the event, but kept the field close. On lap 19 Bolland took the lead off Rougeaux and began to open up a lead and was looking like he was on his way to the win. But another caution on lap 24 allowed Rougeaux one more shot at Bolland, and he used it to his advantage grabbing the lead off Bolland. Bolland could not get close in the closing laps, while Rougeaux gained a hard earned win. At the finish it was 6th starting Rougeaux, Bolland, NY invader Chad Holman, Dave Murdick, Rex King Sr., Tommy Winkle, Gary Smoker, Cooter King, Kevin Hoffman, and Shannon Whaly. Heats for the 33 Modifieds were won by Kevin Bolland, Jeff Miller, Dean Pearson, and Skip Moore.

Heats were run for the other classes for their features on Saturday, with the Brougher's Machine Shop Fastrak Crate Late Models had Dan Karalagas, Beau Glemba, Justin Lamb grab the wins. In the UEMS/TSMA/UMP Miley RV Service E-Mods, saw Bobby Kitchen, Dave Hess Jr. and Daryl Charlier take wins. The Sunoco Race Fuels DIRTcar Cadet Sportsman had Pat Weldon and Mitch Wattelet win the heats. Brian Huchko won the Miley BP Car Wash DIRTcar Hobby Stocks heat, while Adam Carson won the Imperial Heights Garage Sport Compact Heat. On Saturday September 18 2010, the Sprints will be added Tri-Star Pittsburgher for a 20 lap $2500 to win special, while the Super Lates will run their second leg of the Tri-Star Pittsburgher will run a 66 lap $7,000 to win UFO/ULMS feature, while all the other classes that ran heats on Friday will also run there features.
