CUMBERLAND, Md. (July 31) - Matt Sponaugle and Ryan Peer made it to victory lane in their respective features before rain showers brought the rest of the program to a premature conclusion on Saturday night at The Rock, Allegany County Speedway.
Sponaugle captured his third checkered flag of the season over Tim Smith Jr. in the rescheduled 20-lap Limited Late Model feature from three weeks ago.
Smith held the lead over Matt Cosner and Sponaugle in the early part of the race. Sponaugle moved ahead of Cosner for second on lap five.
Smith had a small cushion out front until the caution came out on lap 13 and the field had to be reset for the restart. Sponaugle shot to the inside in turn two when the green came back out but was kept out of the lead in turn three when he and Smith touched fenders.
With three laps to go, Sponaugle tracked down Smith again off of turn four and shot past on the inside in turn one. Sponaugle won by five car lengths at the finish over Smith.
Cosner edged out D.J. Troutman at the finish line for third. Behind fourth-place Troutman, Matt Emerick grabbed the fifth spot.
