STEWART, Ohio (July 9) - The red-clay at Skyline Speedway was sticky fast thanks to a 4 p.m. downpour that left the pits a quagmire, but the racing surface smooth and nothing less-than spectacular. Against all odds, Billy Jarrell and crew prepped the track to perfection as a stage for the golden runs of Greg Wilson, Benton Ridge, OH in the 410 OVSCA sprint cars and Chris Garnes, Evans, WV in the AMRA Late Models. Also posting wins were Kenny Johnson, Mineral Wells (win #5 at Skyline), Ryan Wilson, Marietta (win #9), Tommy Adkins (win #8), and Will Holland respectively in the AMRA Modifieds, Pure Stocks, 4-Cylinders, and Mini-Wedges.
Ronnie Mayle led the first five circuits of a 25-lap spine-tingling, high speed grind in the AMRA Late Models. Early accidents claimed the cars of Scott Wolfe and Roy Roush. Dan Morrison took over the point from the 6th lap to lap 14 was Garnes worked ferociously on the veteran Newport driver.
Garnes finally made his move on lap 15 and soared to the win over Larry Bond who had a great run. Justin Powell was hard-charger in a 18th to 9th place run. Rounding out the top ten were Garnes, Larry Bond, Jeff Burdette, Andy Bond, Ronnie Mayle, Travis Brookover, Tony Roush, Dan Morrison, Justin Powell, and JR Crum. J.R. Crum had his best night of the year with a super run into the top ten.
