BURNSIDE, Ky. (July 3) - Michael Chilton finally got revenge at Lake Cumberland Speedway.
After a heart-pounding loss to Dustin Linville a few weeks back, the Salvisa, KY driver led flag-to-flag for the $1,500 victory during the Firecracker 30 Late Model event. Other event winners included Jimmy Payne of Glasgow, KY in the Open Wheel Modified main, John Smith of Winfield, TN in the Super Dirt Stocks, Michael Bennett of Edmonton, KY in the 4-Cylinders and Timmy McMullin of Burnside, KY won the Front Wheel Drive main.
Chilton and Chase McWhorter brought the field to the green for the start of the 30-lapper with Chilton leading the opening laps. Two yellow flags slowed the event, first on lap three as Kenny Cobble spun in turn four and the second yellow flag flew on the sixth lap as Greg Hansford came to rest in turn four. Chilton would hold off the field and go on to win in the Harrod Farms, Central Painting, Simpson, Chilton's Lawn Care sponsored Bullock powered C.J. Rayburn Race Car.
The Lake Cumberland Speedway will return to racing action on Saturday Night July 10th with the MODIFIED MANIA paying $1,000 to win for the Modifieds and Super Late Models, Super Dirt Stocks, 4-Cylinders and Front Wheel Drives competing for a Weekly Racing Series program. The Gates will open at 4:00 p.m. and Hot Laps are slated for 7:30 p.m.
