LAKEVILLE, Ohio (June 25) - J.R.Gentry checked out the top side of the newly changed racing surface at Lakeville Speedway in his heat race and evidently liked what he found up on the edge as he won his second feature of the year in his El Campensino/Reedy Racing Engines/GDI Chassis. In the heat he started fourth and went on to win as he looked very strong and it continued throughout the rest of the night. It was almost a replay of two weeks ago as he and Ryan Markham diced for the win and the finish was the same with Gentry then Markham Gentry had earned the the outside of the front row with points leader Rick Bond on the pole. The second row was made up of Travis Mensching and Brad Moore. Before the first lap could be completed a big melee occurred on the back stretch as George Lee,Eric Eicholtz,Mike Lonas,Jason Flory along with Hiram Bachmann crashed before getting to turn three. This incident started coming out of turn two and ended with Lonas and Flory sustaining too much damge to continue. On the restart,Gentry blistered his way out front and for the first few laps Bond stayed within striking distance.Lap six saw the next yellow and on the restart Markham moved into the third place behind Bond with Moore and Lee in chase. After two more laps,Markham replaced Bond for the runner up spot but it was not without a great duel between the two seasoned veterans. The green stayed out until lap thirteen when Lee and Moore made contact in turn four and Moore rolled to a stop. The yellow was called on Lee and he left the track for an unknown reason. In the final twelve laps Markham came close to taking the lead, however Gentry was too strong and protected his line to be the first to the finish.Markham was second,Bond took third and maintained the points lead,Moore hung onto third for his best finish of the year and Charlie Duncan raced hard from tenth to grab fifth. The other two Hamlin Racing Engines Late Model heats were won by Ryan Eddleblute and Bond as Coby Bartram took the b main win. Bob Daugherty won his second feature as well in the America's Best Siding Pure Stock A main. After winning the heat he redrew and started on the pole of the feature.Points leader Justin Patterson had to start sixth and chased Daugherty in the late stages of the event.Don Baney Jr. was coming off of a win last week and finished third,Jason Hinton took fourth with Rich Frame fifth. Daugherty's entry sponsored by Chars Cars and Mets Machine Shop. Zero Walter won the fifteen lap feature in the Loudonville Tire 4 Cylinder Bombers and is now putting pressure on Bobby Stamper for the points lead as Stamper had a three in a row win streak snapped. The Hensel name took the following three spots as Gary Hensel Jr,Brad Hensel and Doug Hensel were second, third and fourth as Michael Rose finished fifth with his best finish of the year.Rose,Steve Miller and Doug Hensel were heat winners. Mason Radcliff won for the fourth time in the Rod Eddleblute's Garage Classic Cruisers. He went flag to flag from the outside of the front row to maintains his point lead and adds to it.Royle Mast was second,Glenn Elliott Jr was third,Jim Gerbasi took fourth and Kevin Wright was fifth.Radcliff's Cruiser has The Buckeye Deli as his yearly supporter. Kevin Potts raced his first race of the year in the Mini Trucks and won as he bested his son David, who has the points lead, followed by Scott Gray and Jack Large. Action will resume on Friday July 2nd with the yearly Sparklebration celebrating the Independence Day weekend with all five racing divisions along with The Vintage Auto Racing caes running their exhibition feature.Stay up to speed with all the news at www.lakevillespeedway.com
