CUMBERLAND, Md. (June 19) - Matt Sponaugle became the first repeat winner in the Limited Late Model division this season by leading the distance on Saturday night at The Rock, Allegany County Speedway.

Two other races saw new winners as Mike VanMeter won the Hobby Stock feature and Elwood Hyre won the 6/8-Cylinder race. Jason Thompson won the 4-Cylinder feature and Bill Brown Sr. won the Classic Cars feature each for the second time.

The 20-lap Limited Late Model feature was dominated by Sponaugle from the start as he jumped into the lead in the first turn. D.J. Troutman moved into second and Matt Cosner took third after lap two.

Sponaugle's lead grew from two seconds to three seconds before two cautions came out on laps 16 and 17. Sponaugle still managed to pull away by a dozen car lengths at the finish over Troutman and Cosner. Matt Howsare recovered from a spin at the start of the race to finish fourth ahead of Matt Emerick.

Mike VanMeter's Hobby Stock win came after leading the final 12 laps of the feature. He won by a car length over Justin Michael and Marcius VanMeter.

Jimmy Sacco led the opening two laps until Mike VanMeter grabbed the lead in turn three. Michael and Marcius VanMeter followed to pass Sacco.

Mike VanMeter was able to hold his line on the bottom to keep Michael behind him in the remaining laps. Sacco ended up fourth and Brandon Powell was fifth.

Brown started at the back for the 20-lap Classic Cars feature and worked his way through the field for the win. Kurt Welsh led early while Brown put himself in fourth by lap four.

Brown and Jim Crocker briefly bumped on lap five and allowed Matt Wallace to get to second. Brown responded by getting back around Wallace and Welsh for the lead in the next two laps.

When Wallace closed in on Brown with five laps to go, Brown found another gear and pulled away by 15 car lengths at the finish. Wallace, Crocker, Welsh and Charlie Weaver completed the top five.

Thompson worked on Mike Lewis for several laps before taking the lead and the eventual win in the 12-lap 4-Cylinder feature. Lewis was second for his highest finish of the season. Mike Lauffer, Steve Riggleman and Joe Means completed the top five.

With Lewis out front early, Thompson chased him down after moving to second on lap three. Thompson was still in pursuit on lap nine when he edged out Lewis at the start-finish line before a caution came out. After the restart, Thompson pulled away by nearly two seconds.

Hyre won the 6/8-Cylinder race by taking the lead from Ray Shepherd with four laps to go in the 12-lap feature. Shepherd finished second over Jamie Mills, Joe Rodgers and Jason Imes.

Hyre had started fifth and put himself up to second when the caution came out on lap five to bunch the field up. He tried the inside on Shepherd after the restart and finally took the lead in turn three two laps later.
