MENOMONIE, Wisc. (August 20) - After three weeks of sitting idle due to rainouts and the Dunn County Fair, the Red Cedar Speedway raced back into action Friday night for the Season Championship races as a conclusion to the regular season. With an excellent field of nearly one hundred cars in the pits, Jake Redetzke put on the charge of the night as he moved up from the third row to man handle the Late Model field and earn the Season Championship in that division. Other Season Champions crowned tonight included Kevin Adams, Shane Kisling, Mark Gerth and Dusty Brown.
With the high point cars starting in the front of their qualifying events, and the features lined up straight up from the heat race finishes, it was not a night for huge charges to the front from back in the field. However, Jake Redetzke was easily the biggest mover of the night as he raced up from the third row of the Late Model field to dominate that main event. Point champion Ashley Anderson and Chad Mahder battled in the early going for the lead with Mahder eventually using the momentum of the high side to edge into the top spot. Once Anderson moved up the track to follow Mahder, that opened the door on the low side with Chris Oertel and Redetzke taking advantage of that. Oertel moved in to challenge Anderson for second but then Redetzke picked up the pace and using the low side, blew past both those competitors and quickly reeled in the leader.
Mahder could only watch as Redetzke motored under him to take over the top spot and quickly disappeared into the Dunn County evening. By the end of the event, Redetzke had nearly a straightaway on the field as he took his first win at Red Cedar since opening night. Mahder held off the challenges of Oertel for second while Mike Prochnow made a late charge to nip Anderson for fourth.
