INDEPENDENCE, Iowa (August 14) - With the temperatures all week raising the racing action was just as heated at the Independence Motor Speedway.

Rick Wendling moved through the field early to score the victory in the IMCA Late Models. Travis Smock seemed to be the one to beat early as he pulled away from pole sitter Tysus Pattee. Luke Merfeld and Dean Wagner had moved into the top four as Merfeld moved into the second position after the first and only caution of he event. Wendling had moved into the third position and began to challenge Merfeld for the second position. Just laps later Wendling now had Smock in his sights and with lapped traffic ahead he found himself right behind Smock. Wendling took advantage of his position as he moved under Smock and into the top spot. Jeremiah Hurst who started deep in the field had found his way into the top four as the laps began to wind down. Hurst began to work under Merfeld as Wendling kept moving through lapped traffic. Wendling scored the win with, Hurst and Merfeld following.

Darin Duffy started dead last and by the wave of the checkers he was in the top spot for the IMCA Modified win. Eddie Thomas took command early after two cautions kept the field bunched. Vern Jackson had moved into the top spot just a couple laps later. Leon Wilson and Thomas were challenging one another for the second position as Jackson began to pull away. Duffy began to be on the move and by the halfway point Duffy had moved into the top four and found his way to the second position with five laps to go. Duffy began to cut Jackson's lead in half but a caution occurred the one thing that Jackson's didn't want to see as it made his lead disappear. Jackson upon the restart had Duffy and Wilson on his back bumper and Duffy shot high and into the top spot. Duffy began to pull away and to the victory. Jackson, Wilson and Shawn Ryan followed.

Don Arnold scored back to back wins in the IMCA Hobby Stocks. Arnold took command early in the race with Jim Ball hot on his bumper. The top two began to pull away from third place sitter Bruce Fraser as the field began to be bunched in the middle of the pack. Ball was trying to get around Arnold as Fraser and Justin Lichty had caught the top two a caution flag waved bunching the entire field. Arnold pulled away and to the victory with, Fraser, Ball and Wes Stanek Jr following.

In the IMCA SportMods Josh Sherbon found his way back to victory lane once again this season. Lucas Lundry held on for the early lead despite three cautions. Sherbon had moved through the field finding his way into the second position ahead of Austin Lucas and Drew Fish with under 5 laps completed. The time limit was reached early in the event so the race began to get intense as Sherbon began to battle Lundry for the top spot. Sherbon moved into the lead with Lundry hot on his bumper. Lucas seemed to be alone in third as Austin Kaplan moved into the fourth position. Sherbon held on for the win, Lundry, Lucas and Kaplan followed.

Sean Johnson took home the trophy in the IMCA Stock Cars. Kirk Fauser held on early as Johnson made his move into the second position. Damon Murty was close behind Johnson with Tim Helle in the fourth position. Johnson shot to the lead with Murty following into the second position. The time limit was reached as the drivers knew the next caution or the wave of the checkers would end the event. Helle began to challenge Murty for the second position as Johnson pulled away. Johnson went on to score the win with, Helle and Murty following.
