George Baumann PLYMOUTH, Wisc. (August 7) - Exciting racing in all four divisions gave fans plenty to enjoy Saturday night at the Fair Park oval in Plymouth.
Defending track champion Craig Schueffner (Sheboygan Falls) won the Late Model feature; Tim Warner (Malone) took top honors in the Grand National feature. The Sprint feature went non-stop with T.J. Luedke (Plymouth) breaking the track record in getting the win. Aaron Stolp (West Allis) took the checkered flag in the Outlaw Compact feature.
After a lap-one yellow, the Late Model feature provided plenty of close racing. Schueffner took the point on the second lap and built a nice lead that would be wiped out later by a caution flag.
Russ Scheffler (Waukesha) started eleventh and was passing one car per lap in the early going. Behind the leader, Jay Crichton (Lake Villa, IL), Brad Mueller (Random Lake) and Tim Buhler (Glenbuelah) were hooked up in a tight battle for position by lap seven.
Scheffler would be up to fifth by the twelfth lap before debris on the track stopped the race on lap fourteen. On the restart, Schueffner's lead was gone, and it didn't take long for Scheffler to be close behind. Buhler would pass Mueller for third on lap nineteen, but Mueller would come right back and reclaim the spot.
On the final lap, Scheffler would pull to the outside and the two leaders came off turn four to the checkered with Schueffner taking the win. Mueller, Buhler and Jim Schmidt rounded out the top five.
