DAVENPORT, Iowa (July 9) - Friday was Diercks Family Racing Night at the Davenport Speedway. In addition to the weekly stock car racing program, there were bike races for the kids and an appearance by Crumbo the Clown.

Mike Murphy Jr became the seventh different Petersen Plumbing and Heating IMCA Late Model feature winner in as many races at Davenport this season. Murphy passed Ray Guss Jr for the lead as the two were coming to the white flag and pulled away on the final lap. Murphy found a groove to his liking in the middle of the racetrack and used it to power past Guss, who was on the bottom of the slick track. Guss held on for second with last week's winner Mike Garland third. Kevin Blum finished fourth, after starting in the last row. Nate Buesling was fifth. Bret Diercks and Mark Preston were Late Model heat winners.

The Goacher Towing Pro Mod feature went all twenty laps, non-stop. With the exception of the first five laps led by pole sitter Matt Stein, the race was all Thad Wilson, as he captured his first Davenport point race of the season. When Wilson passed Stein, he brought Doug Crampton with him, but all Wilson saw was green, white , and checkered. Crampton held on for second with Doug Nigh third. Stein and Chuck Hanna completed the top five.

Matt Werner took home his fourth Koehler Electric Street Stock feature trophy of the 2010 season. Werner started ninth and took exactly nine laps to take the lead of the 12-lap main. Werner was followed to the finish line by Jeremy Marquette, Scott Griffin, Cary Brown, and Rob Nylin, in that order.

In EMS IMCA Modified action, Jerry Pratt collected his third feature win of the season at the Davenport Speedway. Pratt took over the lead from Hunter Wilson, after the race's fourth caution, on lap eight. Wilson would hold on for a solid second place finish, with Dan Klatt third, Ben Traver fourth, and Ray Cox Jr. fifth.

Luke Thurness made it back to back wins in the 4 Stock class. Thurness grabbed the lead after a lap three restart and would not be challenged until the final lap. Mike Morrow got to Luke's bumper at the checkers for second place. Chris James and Steven Phillips recovered from a first lap incident to finish third and fourth respectively. Early race leader Jon Scott rounded out the top five.

Next Friday, July 16th, the Davenport Speedway Kid's Club is sponsoring a dunk tank with the help of local racers to raise funds for Karsyn's Krusaders.
